We've been coming to DOP for years and we absolutely love their pastas; namely the bottarga linguine (specials, usually there) and their beef ragu pasta with papardelle. Chefs kiss, absolutely delicious! To top that of, this place has amazing service and we always feel great when we visit. Shout out to Hari, probably the best guy we look forward to saying hi to when we visit.
We were given the outdoor seats for some afternoon tipples. The vibes at D.O.P was great as we could dog watch while enjoying good wine and cheese. Their burrata was extra flavourful as compared to some others I have had. Get the Al Passo red wine if you are there too because we really enjoyed it too.
Did a takeaway, the flavour of the pizza was good and toppings are generous. Bread got a bit hard but was probably because we left it out too long.
With fresh burratina basil (omitted cux the italian man doesnt want) and prawns in cherry tomato sauce
💸: $28
👅: 😋
💭: Yummy...fresh taste of the tomatoes...prawns were huge, fresh & succulent. This is the italian’s all time favourite...always ordering the same dish...soooo...u get the point.
Stuffed with spinach, buffalo ricotta cheese in parmesan, butter and sage sauce.
💸: $25++
👅: 🙂
💭: im too full to really enjoy this fully. The taste was definitely pleasant. The ravioli are a little thick but the filling is full.
The italian’s to go on weekend.
💸: $35++ (design your own antipasto)
👅: 😋
💭: this can never go wrong with high quality fresh cheese & parma ham. Definitely no strong porky smell 🐷
Fried and stuffed with Parma ham, sun-dried tomato and basil. Ordered this and their spaghetti carbonara. Happy with my orders. This is a place where I wanna have a nice casual meal and catch up with friends over a bottle of wine.
This antipasto platter is so worth it! You can customise it yourself by choosing one cold cut, mozzarella, and side dish. I went for parma ham, rocket salad with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and topped up an additional $10 for their truffled burratina (250g). The portion size was v impressive - particularly how much parma ham there was! The parma ham was also thinly sliced and not overly salty.
The best part was the burrata though. It was intensely creamy inside and so soft. The truffle paste on top with several shaved truffles was earthy, fragrant and enhanced the cheese. Definitely worth getting this as an appetiser to share! The environment here is also really lively as it’s near a cluster of other restaurants, and the service is very friendly.
The antipasto platter was decent though the burrata was not as creamy as I would like. Burrata lovers will know exactly what I mean. You can find good burrata at Valentino (Turf City) or No Menu (Boon Tat Street)
The stewed Italian Octopus that was supposedly a house special/favorite was not outstanding.
The homemade Scialatielli however was pretty good. For cheese lovers, you will find chewy bouncy scialatielli pasta coated with a thick creamy Cacio cheese and black truffle pesto cream sauce. This is served in a Cacio cheese bowl. Yes, in a bowl carved out of a Cacio cheese. It definitely left an impression. Suggest that this be shared as it can get 'jelat' after a few mouthfuls. Cheese lovers can scrap the cheese of the cheese bowl if they want the already cheesy pasta cheesier.
We ended the meal with a good tiramisu. We always joked that if an Italian restaurant cannot get this dessert right, they cannot pride themselves as an Italian restaurant.
Perhaps we will return to try the other pastas.
Dining at D.O.P. Mozarella recently put huge grins on our faces. It’s definitely heaven for cheese lovers with rich option such as this Homemade Scialatielli. The pasta which they make in-house got our attention because the texture was somewhat bouncy like our favourite Udon and the cream sauce with Cacio cheese and black truffle pesto was fragrant, yet not overwhelming. It’s impressive how the pasta is served in the shell of the Caciocavallo cheese—which, if you’re really a die-hard cheese fan, you could chip away at to enjoy once you’re done with the pasta. Have this to share as it can be overwhelming if you’re not into creamy sauces, plus it’s a good chance to try out the other dishes at D.O.P.
Homemade Scialatielli ($28) with strands of pasta noodles similar to spaghetti but thicker. I love the texture of the pasta as our teeth sink into them and this is tossed with some rich black truffle pesto cream sauce that is pretty addictive. Served in a Cacio cheese bowl, it's recommended to scrap off the inner side of the bowl to enjoy the maximum cheesiness!
