From the Burpple community

Ordered the Mentaiko Pasta and Unagi Egg Toast under the 1 for 1 deal. Felt it was very value for money using the Burpple Beyond deal. Food portion size was good too. Would have loved to try their grain bowl but it was sold out when we ordered. Perhaps another time then!

:Dual has a really nice vibe going on for them, and they have more seating than you think. Apart from the main seating area where the ordering and collection counters are located, there’s a section deeper inside that’s cozier. Natural light filters in through the back, giving a soft lighting to the minimalist interior of the back room. I love the round tables with their pizza slice shaped chairs. There weren’t many people when we visited slightly past noon on a Thursday. Most people also opted to sit in the main dining area rather than walk to the back, which meant we had our own private dining area about 80% of the time we were there.

While I personally would not go out of my way for :Dual’s grain bowls, the beverages, location and ambience make for a nice place for a chill, unhurried catch up with friends.

What’s in this bowl ($6 after discount)

Protein: Mirin salmon (+$2 on top of basic $10 bowl)
Base: Soba
Toppings: Sous vide egg, edamame, roasted potatoes
Requested for extra sauce at no additional charge

Soba is overcooked and tasteless without addition of sauce, so do opt for the extra sauce if you pick soba as a base, or just get a different base. The mirin salmon is pretty good though, the flesh is sweet, tender and juicy and it’s seasoned well. Might need to work on cracking sous vide eggs as the yolk was already broken, edamame and roasted potatoes tasted normal, that’s all. Apart from the salmon, the toppings in the bowl are quite lacklustre and I wouldn’t make a return trip just for the bowls. At least their matcha espresso beverage is unique and really good, plus they have sandwiches that I’m willing to try so it might warrant a second visit to enjoy the 50% discount or utilise the Beyond deals.
