Pretty interesting martinis, great place to chill. Gin and Tonic here was very nice as well.
Retro Chinese interior, dim lighting.
I have many fond memories after dark (9PM - 1AM, specifically) here, where their extensive Martini menu goes at a sweet 1-for-1. & practically all day before that (12 - 9PM), housepours start from $8 β & that's a gentleman's pour of 45ml, not the regular 30ml.
You truly get your money's worth here. Just like I did with my Hennessy on the rocks π So if chilli vodka isn't quite your kind of thing, don't worry about it... You definitely have other options here.

The novelty of Chilli Vodka Infusion was just too good to pass up! I had to get the 5pice Me Up ($12++) once I heard it's reminiscent of an Old Fashioned. I don't eat crazy spicy food (not a Mala lover), but this cocktail pushed all the right buttons for me.
I was impressed not only by the zing of the heat/spice from the chilli, but also how smoothly the drink goes down. It also helps that, like my favourite Old Fashioned, this isn't saccharine sweet.
Surprised at its affordable price, I was tempted to get a 2nd one, but I resisted π I'll be back to try some of the other options next time.
Ps: Also love nibbling on the peanuts & throwing the shells on the floor.... Who's with me?!

I've been here before, but this was my first time at No. 5 Emerald Hill when the sun was still up π Sitting at the bar alone, my eyes wandered around & couldn't help but notice the tank of vodka with lots of chillis in them.
Introducing.... No. 5 Emerald Hill's Grey Goose Chilli Vodka Infusion π€― The fiery red chillis sit in the vodka for 3-4 months, really lending their spicy flavour to the liquor. I had to have a shot of this or at least try at 1 of their cocktails..
.. But which one? π€ π
Spoilt for choices with 4 options here:
β’ 5pice Me Up ($12+), inspired by a classic Old Fashioned
β’ Hi-5 ($12+) highball with soda
β’ Cherry Snap ($17+) a sweet treat
β’ Bangkok Martini (2 for $20+)

Absolutely good fun to settle in with some friends and multiple martini glasses. With a huge menu of martini flavours, there is something for everybody. My personal favourite is the lychee martini, but they also do a great stiff gin martini. πΈ
This is one of my regular drinking spots, cos of the delicious martinis they offer. The one that I always order is their choya martini (2 glasses for $20 nett). It has the right amount of sweetness ratio & alcohol taste that I like, and the plum is a nice finishing touch.
This is my newfound favourite of all the flavours I've tried from their list of martinis (I think I must have tried at least 5).
The bartender recommended this over my initial choice of the Bangkok Martini because he said the latter was an acquired choice. I was all ready to be a daredevil and get the Bangkok one because well, YOLO, but I'm really glad I listened to him instead because this was such a delight. The lemon made the drink incredibly refreshing and easy to drink, despite it being slightly strong.
Comes with 2 full lychees! I was hesitant in ordering this at first, because I don't fancy my drinks sweet but thankfully it wasn't overly so!
Crispy prawn paste wings (S$18) together with beer (S$20) and Long Island Tea (S$19).
This was a little strong tasting, though I suspect it's because I told the bartender I'm not a fan of sweet liquor. Still this was pretty good, though I'd stick with my newfound love aka the Choya.
This was actually my first taste of Choya (I know, I know, I'm ashamed of myself too) and wow does it live up to the hype. This drink was refreshing, had a good balance of sweet and sour and all around a great drink to give you a slight buzz. Oh and the whole plum! Yum yum. In my tum. (Ok time to stop).
In need of some delicious martinis and at a extremely reasonable price? Head down to No.5 for these babies now! From now to 29th Feb 2016, No.5 bar is making these yummy cocktails in celebration of Ricola's 75th anniversary. With every cocktail you order, you stand to win Ricola's golden nugget worth SGD$2,118. So what are you waiting for? Drink up and giggle your night away.
In conjunction with Ricola, Emerald Hill No 5 has crafted three bespoke cocktails: The Ricola Maple Surprise (pictured), Ricola Special Whiskey and Ricola Swiss Herb Choco. They are available from now till 29 Feb 2016 at $19 for two. My favourites are the mojito-like Special Whiskey and the sweet Swiss Herb Choco.
No, you shouldn't need much convincing to come here. Just cross the road after your lovely meal at Kilo at Pact at Orchard Central, and park yourself at this bar along Emerald Hill. You can have as riotous or as tame a night as you please here, just know that from 9pm to 1am, the Marvellous Martinis are 1-for-1. Think Choya, Lychee, or Wintermelon Martinis at just $19 for two. Yes. Do it. At least twice. And then order their famed Har Cheong Gai at 1am to tame peckish pangs that the free flow of peanuts canβt sate. ;) You're most welcome!
I found my new favourite martini! Sure, it's not the best in town, but at that price? I don't think anyone would even dare to complain.
I used to always order the lychee martini here β the few times I tried to be adventurous, I got sucky ones like the medicinal/artificial-tasting Midori and Apple Fruitini. Then one fine night, people with trustworthy taste buds (thank you, dearest Tastemakers *ehem*) recommended this and voila! My new default drink at this watering hole that never disappoints (comes with unlimited peanuts too)!
p.s. The 1-for-1 promotion here is only valid from 9pm to 1am and both drinks must be the same.
A European-style bar housed in a restored Peranakan shophouse brings back and earns loyal patrons by offering great affordable drinks alongside delicious bar bites. They offer 1-for-1 martinis during Happy Hour which stretches from 9pm to 1am - Martini-lovers take note! With that drink in hand, try their famous prawn paste chicken wings and the No. 5 special. Charming and full of character, No. 5 definitely makes for a very pleasant bar experience.
ever tried wintermelon martinis or green tea martinis? yes this is de place to be.
From 9pm onwards, Martinis are on 1 for 1 promotion. So signal for the waitress and drop the legendary punchline: shaken, not stirred.
