Reviews of good food at Ginett Restaurant & Wine Bar

But I don’t judge a food by its cover. The first bite impression of this La Quenelle de Brochet Gratinee ($30) was intriguing. Cooked in a Chardonnay sauce, the semi-mousse, semi-tofu texture of Pike fish was soft, buttery and milky yet saltish. And while I am still in puzzled state, it ends with a sharp note on the taste buds. Nice try.

The soft chewy scallops have a rich, ocean sweet taste with a lean, firm texture. Alongside with the mash potatoes that is slightly burnt with the char taste. .

As it happens, I was having wagyu steak. The wagyu T-bone steak was grilled to perfection with a nice explosion of juices in the mouth and a nice separation of fats and meat. It doesn't come with many seasonings except salt and pepper. Simple but well-executed steak. .

The lobster is grilled to perfection dressed with extra virgin oil and seasonal vegetables. Light dressing sauce for the lobster lends a perfect ‘ocean-like’ flavour that makes you crave for a second piece. 😋

It is served with a poached egg, ham, spinach, hollandaise sauce on an English muffin. The perfect poached egg had a runny yolk, with a hardening crust and no raw white remaining. I also enjoy having with fresh tomatoes and spinach, it added just as much flavour with added nutrition and just as much taste 😋. This is one of the mains from Ginett’s T.U.F. Moist, tender, bursting with flavour I never expected. With both salmon and garlic spinach, and both simply complement each other. This is one of the mains from Ginett’s T.U.F. (TILL U’re Full) Weekend Brunch (S$42++ per pax) .

This was pretty underwhelming. The pork was quite fatty and under seasoned. Perhaps being over cooked caused the meat to be tough as well. We got the creamy spinach as the side and it was under seasoned too. We added pepper and salt to improve the taste.

Side options: creamy spinach, mesclun salad, mashed potatoes, ratatouille, mushroom fricassée, potato wedges

Sauce options: Béarnaise, pepper, blue cheese

Pretty pricey for the portion served. This was okay but two of my accompanying diners were completely thrown off stating how under seasoned the chopped up beef cubes are. Personally I felt it was not great, but it wasn't bad either.

Comes with 5 cheeses, 5 cold cuts, 1 pâté.

First of all, for some reason, the ratio of cold cuts to cheese on this platter was 3:1 for each portion. That's sad. I would very much rather have more cheese.

Secondly, the waiter just dropped this on our table and left. Personally, Im usually inquisitive abt my platters. Which is why I would very much rather build my own platters, at places like Providore, Jones the Grocer etc. I honestly believe I am able to appreciate the cheeses more if I am properly introduced to them before I taste them.

Only managed to get the name of one of the cheese because the rind looked foreign (fuzzy grey, green and white) and it tasted intriguing - earthy mildly bitter and nutty. That was Saint Nectaire.

The cold cuts were not great at all. Completely not worth mentioning, 2 of them reminded me of the honey baked ham from supermarket.

Love the G board, comes with 3 cold cut and 3 cheese, at $30. Also got the confit de canard at $29. Wines by the glass start at $6 and ranges to ~$15. They also have wine bottles. My favorite wines were the Pierre Jean merlot and the sparkling. The carbernet and Grenache were both too dry. Good service, nice bar, decent food and good crowd. #burrple #foodinsing #foodinsingapore #wineandcheese #coldcuts #Ginett

Found this great biz lunch place on burpple.

👍loved the value for money 3 course set lunch - had the pan seared snapper and vegetable cream soup. Decor is beautiful as well with the high ceilings and grand bar. Good service. (7.8/10)

Love the ambiance here. Great place to hang for a few drinks after work. Foodwise I strong recommend the beef cheek but it's a bit too bit so it's good for two persons to share.

This weighs 1kg including the bones, and came with three types of dips - blue cheese, bearnaise or pepper.

The grill on the exterior is lovely, slightly crusty, with a perfect medium rare interior. Not as juicy as I wish it would, but this was decent. Slightly pricey, but the cheap wines made up for it. #steak #beef

These were good! The chewy choux pastry is light, while the vanilla cream is nicely sweet. Love it!.
