From the Burpple community

Rice was chewy but the flavour was lacking

Tofu sauce was alright but it's too hard.

Ckn was tough and way too parsimonious

Cucumber was nice tho, and generous

Overall very overpriced and not good either

Half roasted and white chicken $18
Sambal Kangkong $7.90

The Thai white chicken is smooth. The sambal kangkong is spicy and crunchy.

Finding a decent plate of chicken rice in a shopping mall can be a bit tricky.

It is, therefore, a wonderful surprise to find it at this halal eatery @GoAngsg tucked away in Jem.

Their poached chicken sans soy sauce and sesame oil drizzled over, has a silky-smooth skin with a glistening layer of gelatin beneath it.

I was attracted by the number of Michelin Bib Gourmand awards on the wall so I thought the food must be good.

My order: the limited offer fried chicken rice at only S$6.50.

My verdict: my meal was more fried crispy skin than chicken meat. The rice was plain not the traditional tasty chicken rice (not sure if this was intentional). I won’t try this again but that’s me. To be fair I might try their traditional chicken rice set which is likely the reason for all their awards. Ah well, wasted tummy space.

Chicken thigh meat is pretty tender but not my cup of tea. My friends liked it. The rice was flavourful, like how chicken rice should be. The chilli was great! The brown one was made of hoisin sauce (I think), ginger and green chilli -- this was great too! For the price, it's worth a try! I do wanna go back for the noodles since they're pretty affordable, too.

(Part 3 of 3)

Bean sprouts were very saucy and surprisingly flavourful. They remained their crunchy texture, with bits of spring onion, sliced red chili and silver fish throughout.
