Although FIX is known for their naanwiches and donuts with salted egg dip, it would be a shame if you missed out on their stellar desserts and crispy soy drumlets. These drumlets are the perfect combination of salty, spicy and crispy -- a must-order item! To sate your sweet tooth, go for the butterscotch arabica choux ($6) -- a crumbly, light choux pastry filled with salted butterscotch and topped with coffee cream. For something light, their passionfruit, mango and coconut chiffon cake ($7) is a sure win.

The coffee here has always been good but I had been on a mood for tea lately. This one was really refreshing; you can actually taste that lemon zestiness but it hardly bites the throat, and well supplemented with the minty coolness that comes after. So refreshing on a hot day!

i prefer this over honey creme, because i don't have to queue and it's not as heavy/milky as honey creme. choose from 2 flavours of soft serve (yogurt or milk), and 5 options (pictured here is matcha). the honeycomb bit is really good, and the syringe contains more honey!

The waffles are a must try here, I heard, and it is truly good - crispy yet fluffy on the inside. The ice cream which is topped with the salted caramel sauce is sweet just to the right amount.

First thing first, I ain't no coffee lover, but I tried both (yes I reluctantly did). I still prefer the lemon lavender one, cause I always love sourish stuff. Haha! The original one, could have more coffee flavour. It did not have enough kick of coffee in that small expensive jar. But the lemon lavender one, kinda disappoint me a little as I was hoping to taste more of lavender, which it only has a hint of it. Hope it becomes better the next time round I go & definitely to try other flavours!

It's incredible once you know what goes in this flavour; who would have thought that Butter, Dark Brown Sugar, Digestive Biscuits, Balsamic Vinegar and Seasalt can be mixed up for an ice-cream. What you get; a sufficiently milky sweet yet salted flavour profile, with crunchy bits of sweetness of digestive biscuits. Yum!

Pine Garden's Cake is one of the most recognizable icons within the neighbourhood it is located at, having been there for a long time and known for selling delectable nostalgic cream cakes ever since. Their selection is rather wide, with many flavours to choose from, and with they also have seats to accommodate dine-in patrons situated at the corridor outside. Lychee Martini is a must-try; it's light alcoholic flavour and sweetness blends harmoniously which makes it feel rich. The most attracting part must be the prices itself; a slice of cake goes off at $2.80 each; does makes one wonder why cafes are charging so much these days!

Hopped over to try the coffee at the spanking new halal cafe in the vicinity of my office. I thoroughly enjoyed my cappucino as it was robust and flavourful. Totally did the trick of waking me up instantly. After chatting with the barista, I learned that they use a blend of four types of beans that's exclusively roasted for them by Maison Ikkoku. By his twin brother who works there too, no less! :D

Oriole Cafe & Bar is the perfect place to catch up on some work or some friends in Orchard Road. With award-winning baristas, the coffee is easily the best in town. Stay sharp with a beautifully strong piccolo latte, or opt for more creative options like Citrus Sin or Chili Cholocate Mocha. If you're staying for a meal, go for the beef cheek tagliatalle.

The Loft Cafe is situated on the second floor of a shophouse at the edge of Chinatown. The quiet and conducive environment, with natural light pouring in, makes a perfect place for a peaceful afternoon. Get some work done over their Japanese-inspired Shibuya French toast, fluffy pancakes, and waffles.

The Coffee Daily boasts a unique ambience of modern/Chinese/vintage, with furniture restored lovingly to make you feel right at home in this bare-bones space. Find a spot you like, and settle in with a cup of Highlander coffee and some simple food. If you feel like something sweet, give their gorgeous pastel rainbow cake a try.
