Pancake/ Waffles/ Prata

After brunching at Botanist, stroll a few doors down to this minimalistic ice cream cafe for comforting, home-churned ice cream. We like that the guys running the place are earnest and provide consistently personable service, and are always up for a chat about their favourite topic — ice cream! Prices start at a reasonable $3.90 for a scoop, with premium flavours like their wholly popular Black Sesame priced at $4.60. Burpple Tastemaker Xing Wei Chua describes the black sesame to be intense and rich, yet lusciously smooth and well-balanced. Other flavours to try include the Caramelised Strawberry, Pistachio and Bailey Brownie. If you're with a friend, consider sharing the Charcoal Waffle ($6). It is crisp around the edges and soft in the centre, and there's also a very slight hint of earthiness that adds character.

the berry ricotta hot cakes ($14.90) were so fluffy and moist!!! they recently made their portions smaller tho so around 2-3 people can comfortably finish this now. we also ordered the house-smoked salmon on sourdough ($17.90) and truffle fries ($12.90) to share! the truffle fries came as a generous serving topped with shaved parmesan and truffle bits and were the best i've tried!

The enormously filling buttery, fluffy pancakes, which stored a steaming, 8.15am MRT train passenger-esque rage deep within, provided eggy French toast comfort whilst elsewhere the Bavarian cream was a sugary vanilla ice cream and whipped cream love child. 3.8/5

Cosy space, friendly staff as well as Hyde & Co. 's highly instagramable offerings make for a nice place to chill and cause one to want to spend a lazy afternoon there. Savoury or sweet, I couldn’t decide so instead of a main I opted for a side, Pulled Pork Man Tou ($9 for 3) and for dessert, Butterscotch Popcorn Waffle. Sandwiched between two deep-fried buns, their juicy slow cooked pulled pork in homemade BBQ sauce was made more sinful with the crispy exterior of the mantou and soft center. Wishing the banana slices were caramelised, the waffle was a great balance of textures and the premium artisanal vanilla bean ice cream was the icing on the cake.

After hearing everyone rave bout it, i decided to give this a try with a friend. Was. Not. Disappointed. The waffles are fluffy and crispy at the same time, and the ice cream was smooth.

I like crusty waffles so the square base delivered on that criteria (best would be the slightly charred types but that's my preference). The creamy roasted pistachio soft serve had a good natural nutty flavour. I went overboard with four toppings *twiddle thumbs*, but I do not regret getting the honeycomb and granola for added crunchiness!

Aside from the fact that we waited almost 20 minutes for our waffles and ice cream even though we were the only ones in the shop, the final product did not fail us. This has got to be one of the best ice cream I have had in a long while! The Milo Baileys was the standout for me, even though the 74% dark Valrhona chocolate ice cream was almost just as amazing. The waffles were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - they must have perfected it given the not so stellar reviews I read online when they first opened. I would definitely come back and try their other flavors. They have something good going for them, I do hope they stay around for a long time.

If you are a fan of French toasts AND Pb&J THEN PLEASE GO AND TRY THIS TOAST it is seriously the best thing on earth!!!! Artistry's signature dish so be sure to get it before it runs out!!!

Pancake Stack ($15). Essentially 3 fluffy as pillows and plump pancakes stacked atop each other, then sinfully drizzled with viscuous maple syrup, topped with bananas and slapped with a dollop of ricotta cheese.

Have always been a waffles person but this pancake stack won me over totally, hands down. Going through the huge pile was not overwhelming even though it looked super sweet. Finished the whole stack despite having a heavy lunch.

Pancakes, contrary to popular belief, are not pedestrian at all, or at least these 3 pancakes tell a different story
