Brunch
Beautiful brunch in a beautiful cafe.
One of the many merits of Clan Cafe is definitely the ambience. The decor, the waitstaff uniforms, the music exude sophistication and also quality.
One such quality dish is the scrambled egg brioche. The fluffy scrambled eggs is heaven sent and the melted cheddar cheese elevates the dish to divine status. The caramelised onions were light, sweet and balanced out the savoury sriracha mayo spread on the beautiful brioche bun. The bacon was perfect and the protein made this an all round hearty dish for anyone craving for a good breakfast.
A healthy option for those who wants to maintain their diet. The steak cuts was great but I would not come back just for this.
Housemade prawn and mackerel otah + buttery fluffy toasted brioche + meaty comté = the absolute bomb diggity. A quick scroll through my feed and it’s obvious I have a massive soft spot for sandwiches burgers and the likes, though more often than not I’m smitten with the messiest, grubbiest, and most interesting of the lot. This nostalgic toastie though is a clear throwback to the past, elevating comfort food to a whole new level with a careful selection of fab ingredients. The price tag may seem hefty and I’d say it’s definitely not a hard dish to recreate from home, but trust me when I say this simple yet elegant dish is well worth a try.
Happy holidays! Commencing the long weekend with brunch at one of the newer and beautiful cafe in town. Just look at their Egg Benedict, smoked salmon and poached egg atop muffin, drizzled with brown butter and furikake.
Korean concept store in OC that houses a cafe, manicure parlour and salon. The cafe is really pretty with high book shelves, potted plants and fairy lights. For the 11 items on the Korean Styled American menu, every customer is entitled to order each once hence it is technically not a brunch buffet. However that said, it’s hard to eat 11 items on your own when it comprises of American breakfast, panini etc😜 Portion wise wasn’t that big but it could amount to something if one were to try to finish three or more items😂 Enjoyed the ham and cheese or chicken bugolgi panini the most!:)
We ordered the Mr Benedict X,Y,Z ($24++) which consists of three eggs with different meat - bacon, salmon, I can't remember what the last one was. The French Brioche ($17++) was refreshing compared to our usual pancake stack/ waffles, though the fig, berry and sourish cream could get overwhelming. Getting there was straightforward, except that you may get lost on your first visit, so look out for their orange signboard with the monkey on it! Oh yes, the Nutty Professor Milkshake ($9++) was awesome but it's a little on the heavy side so you could opt to share it!
Felt like treating ourselves to a better lunch today so we found ourselves at this nearby cafe. Ambience felt nice and cosy here, rather quiet on a weekday at lunch time. I had the Smoked Salmon Tartine ($16) and my colleague had The Hulk ($16). The portion was deceivingly small: a single slice of toast but piled on with ingredients. I'm a coffee-lover so I had a Long Black ($4) but they had really interesting tea latte options on their menu like Tumeric and Beetroot. Perhaps I'll try those next time round; I'm pretty curious to see how they'd taste like!
From Drury Lane's latest branch at Biopolis that replaces the HQ of Gorilla Press — this outlet had been running for a couple of months and also serves as the roastery that for all the other branches they run.
Unlike the Tanjong Pagar branch, the outlet here serves up simple brunch fare; mostly toasts with spreads or with eggs or avocado. Went with the classic Eggs Royale and thought it was pretty decent and also affordable at $10; perfectly poached eggs with oozy yolk, a creamy Hollandaise and savoury slices of smoked salmon atop a crusty toast that is fluffy, light and carries a little tension for the chew — only thought that the crust is a little stiff and tends to fight back with the cutlery a little. Otherwise, it's a pretty decent option; really liked the minimalistic environment here with the metallic tables and bright interior — it's also pretty quiet here during non-peak periods so it doubles up as a good spot to work at considering they do provide WiFi here too!
The crab Benedict was pretty good! Love the creamy crabmeat. Goes well with the avocado mash, hollandaise sauce and spinach. The 63 deg egg was cooked to perfection as well!
We ordered a side scramble and sautéed mushrooms. The mushrooms could be a little saltier we fell but overall lovely brunch place
The Symmetry Eggs Benedict (S$22.00) was like no other that I had tried all these while. The biggest difference from the rest is that they used a low-temperature cooking which made it more like a sous-vide style rather than conventional poaching. Yup, that means that the egg white will fall apart quite easily, and the yolk is completely runny (one of them ran too fast and broke before I could even see it). That kind of prompted me to finish my food quickly.
And perhaps it’s just me having a slight obsession on Hollandaise sauce, I wished that the dish was more saucy than runny. Similarly, if the bacon can form a complete wall around the egg, I think the presentation would be more ideal.
Although the dish did not hit the jackpot, given the fact that their service was good and there were other dishes to choose from, I would not mind coming back again to further explore their menu.
poached eggs, spinach, portobello mushrooms and sunflower seed toast for $18. i thought it was pretty tasty; i especially loved the toast and the spinach! the mushrooms felt a little bit salty and my tongue feels itchy now... msg maybe? my friend got the banana bacon french toast and i loved the fluffiness of the toast!! will b back to try the french toast :)
