Tsujirihei-Honten is back till 22 Jan this time round! Will never be able to resist getting a cone whenever they are here. Even though it’s on the pricier end at $7, they are generous with the portion and definitely one of the best ones around for its intensity and bitter notes.

I’m not a fan of mock meats and I usually opt out of them, but this was in a different league! The plant-based sausage here came served with a light smokiness, with house-made vegan bun and dill pickled Japanese cucumber. Good texture and well seasoned!

Even though we asked and were told that the stall opens at 1pm, only realised that the pearls were ready at 2pm after we got there. ☹️ I liked how it wasn’t too sweet and the brown sugar was pretty fragrant. However, I personally didn’t quite like the milk used and thought the pearls could be much more softer and chewier.

This original comes with a combination of oyster, prawn and pork, while they also offer a range of others like purely pork ($3), vegetables ($1.50), oyster and pork ($3.50), seafood ($4), etc. at different prices. Though a little too peppery and the meat chunks were not as juicy as I would have liked, it was still a pretty good version (my fav is Teochew Meat Puff). Aunty serving was super friendly!

Back again for more oyster cakes - clearly trying to have as much while they are so near me, before they shift again to another pasar malam 😂 Just love how thin and crispy the exterior is, and how it’s still able to lock in all the minced meat’s juices. Have always been getting the traditional oyster option, but definitely going to get something new the next time!

No ingredients at all here but wow, this was a really goooood cup of chawanmushi! Loved the dashi used as it was super flavourful yet not overly salty, while the egg itself was smooth and silky. They also have a scallop version at $5 that had sadly, sold out by the time I joined the queue. I’ll definitely go back for another (or probably purchase the dashi to make more at home 😂) before the fair ends on 3 Feb!

Was hesitating to get the melon flavoured mochi obanyaki for fear that it’d be too sweet and taste a little too artificial. I’m happy to report that it actually didn’t! It looks like a normal obanyaki at first glance, but the outer layers are chewy mochi. However, though I liked the texture, it turned out really filling and got a little too heavy half way through - might be best to share. The filling to mochi ratio could be better as well. It’s kinda pricey for one piece but it’s cheaper if you get more.

HELLO AGAIN 😍 Everyone’s just hoping for them to have a permanent shop, but before that, Tsujirihei-Honten is back till 3 Feb! They need no introduction for the rich, creamy and bittersweet softserves. The hojicha wasn’t available yet today but will be very soon!

I didn’t get a photo of the charcoal jelly itself, but it was dark greyish with bits of coconut flesh on the surface. It wasn’t too sweet so that was a plus, but definitely hoped for more coconut flesh for its price tag. Refreshing for the hot weather!

Probably the stall with the longest queue when we were there! They’ve both soft serves (milk and melon) and a range of gelato flavours. The double cheese gelato was milky, creamy with a distinct ‘cheesiness’, though the portion was quite disappointing. They have a box of complimentary topping near the counter, get that as the pastry was nicely lightly sweetened and crunchy!

The weather was mad hot and it was thus no surprise at all that almost everyone had these 1-litre drinks in their hands! The Thai Milk Tea itself was pretty decent without being too sweet, but we would really liked to have less ice cubes.
