Thought the shrimps would be better with an extra small pinch of salt, but had it with mayo and it worked out just right. Was a pretty nice sharing appetiser to have though a tiny bit oily.
Izakaya Hikari is new on Burpple Beyond and there’s 1 for 1 for their mains.

Teppanyaki Beef Fried Rice - $13
Gyuniku Hotatemaki - $35

Perfectly grilled scallops wrapped in thinly sliced US beef is so tender so shiok, just give me a bowl of white rice and I’m good! The teppanyaki beef fried rice is rather fragrant with the wok hei taste. I also love their Teppanyaki Broccoli ($13), which have a buttery taste, only if it was double the portion I would be double satisfied. Pampering fine dinning at Keyaki

It’s a staple here! I remember it’s made with goose liver. Sounds unappealing to many but I promise you that it’s worth the try! Totally delish and now it comes with in-house kombucha! Nice!
The housemade red wine sauce created with beef and chicken stocks, veal jus, shallots, vinegar, red wine and finished with butter, and the lardons ensure this traditional Burgundian dish punches way above its weight in richness. Yes, even with the acidicity from pearl onions and the cushioning of sourdough. And let’s not forget it has its own eggporn moment too.
Just thinking about this makes my mouth water. The simple, tomato-based sauce really shone. It was flavourful, perfectly herbed and had just the right tartness. The minced lamb was well-seasoned, still oozing meat juices, and had none of that sandy mouthfeel that some minces do. The smooth pliant sheets of papardelle were the perfect vessel for slurping up every last morsel.
I could cry. Don’t know what took me to long to try this place but it is SUPERB. The four cheese pizza was delicious, the wine list was good (and a very pretty sommelier helped us out too), and the highlight of the night was their homemade pastas, which clearly was so delicious that I ate it all before even taking a picture...
So glad to have found this hidden gem because it is now my go-to-place for a delicious and succulent beef donburi ($25), craving for it as we speak 😗 Been there 3 times now and the quality is always consistent!
I would suggest topping up $5 for additional foie gras as I couldn’t taste the bits in the basic dish, but other than that, I LOVE LOVE this place and would definitely head down again some time soon 😋
After tasting 6 of its offerings, we found that we share similar taste profile to that of the Filipinos 😅 Our favourite bowl was the Zembu Maze-soba ($14.80 - R, $16.80 - L) from Manila, which has the most variety of ingredients in it! Pro-tip: add a dash of the in-house vinegar to elevate the dish!
My friend recommended and brought me to this place for dinner. We ordered the Regular Butadon (Pork) and Salmon Don to share. The pork was coated in a savory sauce and the Salmon was tender and flavorful! I actually preferred the Salmon don. I love their Japanese rice too! Will definitely recommend to my friends!
$7 with the Burpple 1-for-1 which made it worth it. Beef and fish skins was good.. however, portion will be a bit small for guys.. would visit again!
Japanese cuisine is such an easy dining choice to make. There is always something for everyone. I have been going back to Rakuichi Dempsey for many years due to the casual vibe, good food and peaceful, relaxing ambience! There is ample parking and it's free 😆

Pros: One of the nicest aburi sushi i've had! Iro-iro set (pictured) is quite good value. Prefer outdoor seating as it's very relaxing, but indoor is cosy too. Other foodstuffs are pretty decent as well.
Cons: Not the cheapest nor the best value mid-tier jap cuisine, but the relaxing ambience makes up for it. Other Rakuichi outlets (i've tried Greenwich) not good.
Price: S$38.60++ Iro-iro Set at dempsey (pictured). Set menu differs at different outlets. Full menu and prices online.
This kinda surprised me with its heat! On the pizza, you get otah otah fillets with melted cheese and anchovies evenly spread all around. Not the best base, but it was thin and crunchy. Toppings came together surprisingly well albeit a touch salty.
Burpple Beyond is available here at STAGE, for 1-for-1 mains, pizzas and pastas. Thank you @stage.prinsep for having us and @burpple for the kind invite! ✨
