More Reviews of good food at Monster Curry (NEX)

I love monster curry for their lunch specials. This pic consist of a large piece of chicken cutlet, rice curry, a side of soup, a drink and a scoop of Ben and Jerry ice cream at just $13.80 Mon to Fri. I topped up another $3 for the omelette toppings. Without it, the food is still delicious and so tummy filling. Do get it.

Price was about $16++
The portion was very filling, but the curry came slightly cold and the level 2 not as spicy as I remember it in other Monster Curry outlets.

We ordered this via FoodPanda and food were still pipping hot and crispy when we open it! We were overwhelmed by its mega huge portion!!! My goodness!!! 2 of us couldnโ€™t finish this spread and we would say itโ€™s a good decent portion to feed 3 pax. โ €

Separated into 2 boxes, top box is filled with white Japanese rice, topped with Pork Shabu Shabu with dressing & Crispy Pork Katsu loaded with lots of cheese all over it! So cheesssssy shiok!! Another box is Crunchy Fried Fish and 2 Shrimp Tempura! Curry is separated and you can choose your own preferred Spiciness from level 1 to level 5. We love itโ€™s spicy yet flavourful thick Japanese curry that goes so well with both the white rice and all itโ€™s ingredients! It also comes with a small bowl of salad on the side with sesame dressing, great appetiser to start with! โ €

Big portion ! and worth it , like their curry! can choose the level for the spicy.

Had their cheese omelette. Really really love their egg! As a cheese lover, I am definitely satisfied with this dish. The salad is really good as well with a tasty dressing which I suppose is made of almond? Their portion was really huge though. Monster curry is on the pricier side. Would definitely love to see them being featured on burpple beyong:-)

Monster Curry Combo at Serangoon Nex. Very huge portion and definitely can be shared among 2 to 3 persons.

Pork Katsu Curry with additional toppings of cheese ($1) AND an onsen egg ($3). I chose level 3 spice but it did not really pack a punch. For spicy food lovers, level 4 should be perfect.

Chose level 2 cause I didn't want it to be too spicy. Unfortunately the omelette was cold and so was the onsen eggs. The curry flavour with nice but nothing makes up for cold eggs! :(

Finally got to taste this monster-sized curry dish ๐Ÿ˜ฎ We got the seafood $25++ combo curry that can be shared between two people- there's pork katsu, tempura, fried fish and pork shabu-shabu. Basically a v fried dish with curry (the amount of spiciness depends on how much of that red sauce thing they put. The curry itself is not spicy). I liked the fried fish :) overall, the dish was so-so. If you want quality, other jap restaurants(like saboten!) might be a better choice. If you are a hungry monster and need smth huge to fill, this would be good ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸปRating : 3/5

Lazing Sunday away and kudos to @deliveroo_sg, we had a fiery lunch from Monster Curry. Tried the Cheese Pork Katsu Curry (2 Flame) $15 whereby you can choose the level of spiciness. 2 flame is bearable while 3 is Shiok but spicy. ๐Ÿ˜

The sixth week of 'Because You Deserve The Best (#BYDTB) campaign is Japanese cuisine, where you can enjoy set meals for 2 or 4 pax at $25 and $45 respectively from selected Japanese restaurants. (MOF, Dolce Tokyo, Haru Haru etc.) These deals will be available during the Japanese week from 25th - 31st July 2016. #BurppleROO

YAY!

It was very very very very very very filling. Both of us had so much left over, we were literally laughing at each other but okay lah, QUITE NICE!

Oh what monstrosity is this!

When I was first told that the actual size of the meal is very close to the size on display, I just laughed it off.... Until the dish was served to the table (just check out how big the plate is in relation to the hands).

While I'm sure the huge serving is a major pull for Monster Curry, let's also take a moment to appreciate the quality served. 4 types of proteins were served on mine- dory fish, pork Katsu, pork belly slices and prawns. Each were fried to crisp, without being overly oily (with the exception of the fish, which I felt was almost pure batter). The spicy, creamy and slightly sour curry helped to cut through the oil and batter for the deep fried items, proving to be a great balance in the meal. While the rice was pretty soft and mushy, the portion was too much of an overload. As a result, we couldn't finish and felt guilty of our wastage.

Monster Curry is located at several malls. The outlet we went to is located at basement 1 of NEX. Nearest train station being Serangoon MRT.

I know it's very "heavy" to see this so early in the morning, but I guess this is the only time I'm free to post something here while in the train to work. (I miss my tai tai afternoon high tea๐Ÿ˜ช๐Ÿ˜ช) was so busy yesterday, I decided to give myself a good treat [Monster Egg Curry S$24] - tonnes of rice topped with omelette, cheese, and onsen egg then by the side tori-karaage, ebi, radish and cabbage. Can choose spiciness level, so I go for normal hot, which is just nice ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป also ordered a pork katsu (no pic) and its ๐Ÿ˜ž , that's the reason I'm never a fan of pork ๐Ÿ˜– and this monstrous plate is the reason why I put on so much weight ๐Ÿ˜†

The curry sauce is rich, smooth and flavourful but doesn't have potatos in it (?! Potato fan here *waves) However, it went extremely well with the Japanese rice!

Love the crunchy and succulent shrimps!
The katsu pork was slightly dry and shabu shabu was a lil too thick and tough. Would have been better if they were juicier.

Fried fish was fried fish. Nothing more, nothing less. Was glad that it didn't have the unfresh fishy taste.

Good for sharing! Would probably be just nice for 5 pax to share 2 combos!

Food won. I put that down to the less than spectacular taste.

Always have been a fan of japanese curry because it's not spicy but yet sweet, the dish coupled up with the chicken katsu and the melted cheese on top of it makes it an extremely wonderful combo especially when the katsu is so crispy and juicy! Oh, and the portion was really really big too, loving it!

We decided to "Go Big or Go Home!" so the $25++ ($29) Combo Curry was the choice we made. The combo curry was HUGE! LIKE literally, I'm not kidding when I saw it can feed 3 people.. for $29.. it's like $10/pax.. you are MEANT TO SHARE THIS!! unless you want to consume 5000 calories in one meal. The Fish was fresh and crispy, the tempura was fresh and crispy, the cheesy pork katsu was a bit tough, but still crispy, the strips of pork were delightfully tasty and NOT FATTY! We went with curry level 1, because I don't really take spicy and level 1 was perfect We enjoyed our lunch totally, and we weren't even able to finish the rice or the fish. It was a good meal! I would hope to be back to try more of their other curry dishes
