The broth is not as rich as King of Pao Fan, but that means you can have more. And it’s still a delight. I almost doubled the price by adding sliced fish, crispy rice, bitter gourd and egg, and it’s still only $12.80. Hope they stay in business, as this is absolutely very comforting food.

The food trend in Singapore is constantly changing, and Pao Fan is currently a trendy hawker dish with more and more stalls opening in hawker centres, food courts and coffeeshops. One of my favourite Pao Fans is from San Pin Pao Fan, opened by ex-jumbo veteran chef Ng Chong Lay. They have 4 outlets in Singapore and here’s the Mixed Seafood Pao Fan from their Tanglin Food Hall outlet.

The broth of their Pao Fan isn’t the super ‘gao’ type, but rather a lighter but still really flavourful kind of broth that I really enjoyed! My favourite is the Mixed Seafood Pao Fan, which consists of ingredients like seafood (prawns, clams & mixed Fish), bittergourd, fried egg floss & sprinkles of fried rice puffs. The seafood were really fresh and went really well with their tangy Thai chilli sauce, while the crispy fried rice puffs added to the texture as well!

Do note that the food prices at their Tanglin Food Hall outlet are slightly higher than their other outlets (probably due to higher rental here). Their other 3 outlets are at Foch Road (main), China Square Food Court & Bedok Foodhub, with a 5th one opening soon in Jurong East. Do note that operating hours at each outlet might differ as they stop cooking once the broth runs out.

One of my staples for lunch at work. Good, affordable and filling.

Star rating : ⭐⭐⭐ dinner @tanglinmallsg @komalas . This a a little veggie Indian place in the food court at Tanglin Mall. They serve up some really delicious South Indian food. I ordered 'set b'. (that's how you choose the combinations here and in most food courts). Set B included 2 delicious Puris, a veggie biriyani, two curries, a poppodam and a sweet. Fresh, tasty and filling for just $9. This is one of my fav places. Try the super crispy dosa or giant Puri.

Sumptuous bowl of rice noodle with grilled pork belly $8 only.
Sweet overall, add lime and chilli for more exciting flavours.
Taste as good as it looked. Thom ngon!

Delicious soup at a tiny shop.

Wanted something to feed my sick soul today but was surprised at how tasty the fish soup ($4) was at Isle Cafe at Tanglin Shopping Centre.

For $4, it’s value for money as it also includes rice or bee hoon. Granted the fish slices aren’t exactly huge, thick or bountiful but there are also other ingredients such as egg tofu and crab stick!

This was like a full portion really, for the price an excellent value. The bigger portion comes with more fish and prawns. Tendon Go stall 6

A small foodcourt right in the middle of the hospital. This stall is hidden inside, that offers roast chicken, dark soy sauce chicken and white cut chicken, also roast belly meat and roast char siew. The chicken rice is fluffy and fragrant too. Self serve ginger and chilli sauce. Complimentary soup.

But this one really beat the odds. Its from the Korean store in the food court. The final product is tasty and juicy, much unlike the dry tasteless versions I usually get in such settings. The meal would have fared better with more kimchi on my plate though. 🎣
