Char siew was dry and slightly bland, though the few pieces of burnt ends were good, and only flavour was the sauce on it. Roasted pork was nicely seasoned with the saltiness that you would expect on the crispy skin and meat.

Love how the roasted pork is, it just melts in your mouth. Order it with the daily soup and you can have a hearty meal!

From New Rong Liang Ge
Delectable plate of roast duck & roast pork belly over fluffy rice.
Drizzled with signature sauce & dash of chilli paste.
Indeed wallet friendly price at $4.

I had the da san yuan/大三元 ($5.50) which consisted of char siew, roasted pork and roasted duck meat along with a plate of white rice all blanketed under a liberal amount of thick sauce.
The roasted pork is adorably tiny and a delight to chomp into with its crackling skin that is adequately salted. The alternating layer of meat and fat makes it a very tasty morsel. Among the three types of meats, this is my favorite.
The char siew spots a beautiful caramelized exterior but unfortunately was a very lean cut of meat that leaves stringy fiber stuck in my teeth. I could not taste much of the flavor either as they were mostly drowned out by the thick sauce.
The roasted duck meat was deboned for easier eating. While the meat was on the leaner side, it is not dry at all due to the thin layer of fat under the skin which acts as a lubricant.

What I loved most in this meal is actually that very umami chili sauce! It goes great with both the meat and rice so take more of it!

This portion is for 2 people and was definitely worth for the price. However the char siew was just alright, nothing special. The plus point is the price whereby it is affordable.

Perhaps standards have dipped or inconsistency, the meats didn’t impress that evening. The char siew was rather dry and lacking the smoky aroma while the duck was overly salty. The saving grace was the roast pork which had a nice crispy skin and you can taste the Chinese five spice powder from each bite. Unfortunately, one of the pieces had a strong porky taste which dampened the mood somehow. Nonetheless, when you’re in the Bugis area, this is still a solid plate of roast meat and this stall has a perpetual queue from lunchtime to dinner time.
