Plain Vanilla Bakery was borne of an earnest desire for some good old-fashioned cake. We’ll make no bones about how we love our European pastries – give us some cream-filled choux pastry and we’ll happily wolf it down. But there are days when all we want is cake. A slice of warm apple pound cake drizzled with caramel; tall layers of light sponge cake and buttercream; or just three or four mouthfuls of a cupcake smothered in enough frosting leftover for licks when the cake’s all gone. So we’ve taken it upon ourselves to bring it back to basics. We take what our grandmothers and mothers were made of and we make it even better. We’re talking childhood-reminiscent flavours made from seasonal ingredients worthy of a home kitchen, only the treats are scrummier and more comforting than you remember. We’ve all felt that warm fuzziness – stirring in the hours of late morning to the wafting scent of freshly baked butter sponge, or quietly traipsing to the kitchen fridge at midnight when the tummy rumbles for that last slice of pound cake. Remember all that simple goodness? That’s what you’ll find with us.

When I heard there's carrot cake I jumped on it. The cake was okay while the frosting really lifted it.

Petite bowl for $6 and this salad was well-prepared. The vegetables were fresh and the combination of quinoa, cheese and avocado was well-balanced too!

Love this place for their pastries!!!

Feel like this is a secret gem at the cafe that’s known for its cupcakes and pastries. Chock full of fresh fruits and the granola itself is delicious!

- Dark chocolate fudge brownie with a layer of chocolate chip cookie dough encased in dark chocolate coating and sprinkled with chocolate chip cookie crumbs

- Chocolate chip cookie cupcake with a dark chocolate fudge core topped with chocolate chip cookie dough frosting and a homemade chocolate chip cookie

The brownie was fudgy albeit a little dry when eaten in silo. The main highlight here got to be the top layer of chocolate chip cookie dough frosting that was creamy, chunky, couple with a a pleasant tinge of subtle saltiness that I adore, serving as a counter balance to the otherwise saccharine sweetness. Topped with a bittersweet dark chocolate coating and chocolate cookies crumbles, this decadent, sore-throat inducing chocolatey goodness is highly recommended for sharing unless you are a hardcore chocoholic. Do pair it with the free scoops of Ben & Jerry’s cookie dough ice cream for the best of both worlds! 😉
2️⃣ Dough Rae Me cupcake🧁 [$5]
Chocolate chip cookie flavoured cupcake topped with chocolate chip cookie dough frosting surrounded by chocolate chips and topped with a wedge of handmade chocolate chip cookie, this cupcake also contains a dark chocolate fudge core. The cupcake was soft, fluffy and sufficiently moist, with the dark chocolate fudge core adding a bittersweet flavour profile. On the downside, the frosting was a tad too sweet for my liking, with a cloying saccharine factor that caused me to omit it after two small spoonfuls. Personally I would prefer the brownie over this, though this cupcake might be a safer option for a solo indulgence. .

It’s one of best selling under the cupcake series for plain vanilla bakery. Each cupcake used to be selling around $3.90 instead of $4.20 and they can be paid cash instead of without cashless for the payment. Times have changed on the cafe progress from cost and payment method due to the technology. But red velvet’s whipping cream quite sweet for my preference but red velvet’s cupcake texture quite moist. I will be coming back for other cupcake flavour next round.
