Seaweed soup with clam, tofu & leek; flavorful yet light on tastebud..

Each set came with 4 side dishes that is refillable; all the tastes are light which whets appetite yet not overpowering the tastes of dish; especially love the crunchy & refreshing cucumbers..

Opted for 5-grain rice; kurobuta pork collar & pork ribs are well-grilled to tender with no gamey taste, came with Korean bracken, roasted sesame, chopped spring onions & seafood sauce; flavorful with light smoky taste; came with similar sauce at the side..

Opted for 5-grain rice which came soft & fluffy; with 5 webfoot octopus stir-fried with pepper, they are tender & springy; came with aster leaf, roasted sesame, chopped spring onions & seafood sauce; give it a good toss & every mouth is bursting with flavors, with slightly charred base & light floral aroma of the aster leaf lingering on the tastebud; soy sauce at the side is quite salty, so can adjust the amount according to own preference, but the rice tastes good on its own without the addition of it..

Beef lovers, like myself, would definitely enjoy their Beef Short Rib ($32.80) sotbap. Tender and so well-marinated, the Australia Beef Short Rib tasted premium, especially with my choice of fluffy five-grain rice. Said to be flavoured with Korean pear and soy sauce (sweet and savoury), the protein was grilled perfectly will some charred edges to the succulent cut. Topped with a beautiful luscious egg yolk, the pot also contained roasted sesame seeds, chopped spring onions, gingko nuts and plenty of mushrooms. So good even without the accompanying sauce.

Exceeding my expectations, Sagye’s Lunch menu was great (psst, much better than the previous one I reviewed, in my opinion). Available only between 11.30am to 3pm (their last order at 2.30pm), the Korean Pot Rice sets were of good value, each coming with a soup of the day (on the day we had a mildly spicy kimchi tofu soup) and side dishes.

The Pork ($21.80) sotbap was well-executed and had a chockful of ingredients. With a little more charred flavour, the grilled Pork collar and Pork rib was like a classic done right - deliciously textured with a slightly fatty chew. Nicely flavoured, the toothsome pork was wonderfully balanced with the bed of Japanese rice with cubes of sweet potatoes and ginkgo nuts. The addition of deeply earthy Korean bracken (gosari) was a fantastic touch too. A hearty, comforting choice.
