[CLOSED] Stärker Bistro (Katong Square)

There was a WhatsApp message circulating around with a list of 40 F&B in Singapore which are closing or closed.
However, Starker Group still indicated they are “temporary closed” on their social media channels.
After I did some checks, I found out that there will be a “Notice of Creditors Meeting” under section 209 of the Companies Act to be held on the 10th of June 2020 for “Starker Brewery Pte Ltd” and “Starker F&B Pte Ltd”. The meeting which will be conducted via video-conferencing, is to estimate amounts of creditors’ claim, appointing a liquidator, appointing a committee of inspection and other businesses.

Pulled pork w wanton skin pizza & cross-cut waffle fries // Pizza crust felt pre-made which was purchased from the nearby cold storage, nevertheless a good bar food w great environment. The bistro was brightly lit and welcoming and they even had a screen showing a live football match!

It has officially opened!

I would liken this to Seafood Marinara meets Cheese Baked Rice.
The base of the pot filled with a bed of aromatic herbed garlic rice, then topped with sautéed seafood of Tiger Prawns, Clams, Green Mussels and Squid, sprinkled with mozzarella then baked.

The dish was then served with a golden fried Soft Shell Crab like a crown.

Starker at Katong is a brighter version of Stuttgart, with beige stone walls and colourful flowers adorn at the balconies of the "2nd storey" (just plain decoration).

The Starker Lychee is a very easy light beer, and it's not as sweet as Taiwanese lychee beer. I didn't really taste the fruity notes until I ate the Asian Spice Lamb Spare Ribs, the contrast of the strong gamey meat brought out the mild lychee sweetness.

I never thought lamb spare ribs could be soft and easily eaten with a fork, though it's always yummier to get down and dirty using your fingers... The herb and spice crust, though fragrant, may not be strong enough to envelope the lamb, so the tangy cucumber mint yogurt was a necessary sauce to keep the gaminess in check.

I will definitely head back here even for an afternoon chill with a book. They even offer to change your mug to another frosted mug if they notice your beer has been sitting for a while! That's one unprecedented and memorable act of service.

It looked promising. It looked good. So we were told there will be a half hour wait. After 30 mins, it was served. Skin looked crackling. There was a decent seasoning on the skin. But was surprised that the knuckle was cold to the touch. After a 30 min wait... hmmmm. We requested it to be heated up and it tasted just slightly better.
