More Reviews of good food at Stirling Steaks (Katong)

Poorly executed steak - ordered a medium but steak doneness was more like medium-rare (service staff / boss couldn't even tell which was the medium steak when we asked - he probably didn't even note to cook this as a medium?) Steak was also tough and chewy, definitely one of the poorer steaks around. Truffles fries had no truffle taste, and mashed potato had a weird texture. Was also told we couldn't use burpple but staff eventually relented when we shared that the app allows it. Was a terrible piece of steak and not worth the calories imo (not even a 1for1 deal will make it platable). Will not return.

+ saw that the shop has drastically shrank / downsized from its previous 2 storefronts to its small shop now, the quality and attitude of the shop owner is probably the reason why.

++ saw two poor souls who walked in after us and were misled into believing that burpple wasn't available for redemption when it clearly was. And then was sold into paying for a Wagyu flight meal.

A small restaurant located along the busy street opposite i12 Katong, Stirling Steaks served up one mean steak. Went for the tenderloin which was executed well, a nice sear that was delicately marinated, and unsurprisingly, very tender. The side of truffle fries were a tad too oily, but still delicious. Would definitely come back here with the Burpple 1-for-1 deal - so worth it!

Though Iโ€™m not in the area often, if I feel like steak I always consider this charming little place. High quality steaks at affordable price. On this visit though, the prices had gone slightly higher ( but still pretty good), but was a little disappointed that it had lost the char that I loved so much. This was the place that made me restart my burpple membership. Super duper worth it with the Burpple 1-for-1!

We ordered a 220g wagyu steak under 1-for-1 mains, and it was quite a disaster. The mashed potato tat came with it tasted bland and the texture was completely off. The steak was tender but with lots of tendon. The truffle fries was rather plain too. The fried wings tat we ordered was soaked in oil and left us with a queasy tummy. Personally I feel $64.50 is way too expensive for this quality and I will not come back again.

ribeye steak ($37) is a really good cut! much better than many restaurants even fine-dining๐Ÿ’ฏ there was no tendon inside at all, tender with a good chew ๐Ÿ‘ highly recommend and a regular place to check out!

Ironically ordered the salmon despite it being known for its steaks. The salmon was a decent portion, having a super crispy exterior and juicy interior. Topped with creamy dill and leek sauce, this gave the dish a unique kick which made it even better.

Will definitely go back, this time to try something that they are recognised for, steaks.

Cosy place for a weekend dinner treat - don't expect a fancy restaurant, more of a relaxed diner vibe. Service was somewhat slow on a Friday night with the one staff looking quite surly, but nevermind them as the focus is more on the food!

(Starting from main picture, clockwise)
Ribye 250g ($37.50) - Tender and juicy, charcoal grilling it gave it a distinct char and a slight smokey taste. This was oh so delicious with the avocado butter lending another dimension of flavour. Don't skip the truffle fries because those were crisp and lip smackingly-good!

Pork Cheeks ($6.90) - Sinfully good, these almost felt like bitng into smokey pieces of fat. So good that we ordered another portion, but might be too fatty for some so take care!

Smoked Duck Breast ($16.90) - Wow. Just wow. Melt in your mouth, my first slice burst in my mouth with juices. Loved every bite and I was exclaiming throughout while finishing my portion. Mop up the juices and fat drippings with the baby potatoes too!

Mid wings ($6.90) - Good, but you can skip this if there's already too much meat on the table.

Fish and Chips ($14.90) - Standout was the mayo, there was an addictive quality to it unlike your usual Heinz or Kewpie mayo. Otherwise, a boring dish.

Tenderloin 220g ($39.90) - True to its name, very tender. But didn't like this as much as the ribeye and felt that this was quite tasteless without the accompanying sauce.

Overall,. very good meal for meat lovers but take care of the older folks here - my aunties and uncles felt that the meal was "too oily" and were worried for their gout. Burrple redemption was also confusing as at first we were told the 1-for-1 could only be used for the steaks but when payment my Duck Breast and Fish & Chips were the free dishes. Also, parking on a Friday night was a nightmare.

Affordable steak, not crowded on saturday nights thus a good place to chill. Highly recommend the truffle fries.

Steak was delicious and worth the deal. They allowed us to use multiple deals for a group of 4 which was great.

Back here second time cuz first experience was pleasant. The 250g seemed value for money with 1-1. Could choose truffle fries or mashed potato. The steak was more rare than medium rare. Had to do a bit of chewing. Maybe better if they put a sizzling plate. Waited third in Q on a Friday night. Was quite a fast turnover as they opened upstairs. Toilet is not well maintained. May not go back for sometime as standard has dropped by a little. The stretch of shophouses have a wider variety to choose from.

Prior to my visit here, I actually read alot of bad reviews saying the steaks here are chewy and the truffle fries have no taste. To my surprise, itโ€™s actually not bad!!! The steak was well done and the sauce really complements it (maybe the restaurant is inconsistent?). The truffle fries are ok, those at the bottom lacked flavour. Paid $42 (inclusive of GST) for 2 ribeye steaks, imo it was really worth, definitely better than isteaks.

For starters, we started with the mushroom soup. Which really tasted like it was made using real mushrooms and cream. Best eaten hot.

We ordered two ribeye steaks in medium well and medium. The steak done in medium well was less chewy and a little dry, while the steak done in medium was more juicy and chewy. Having tasted the steak both medium and medium well. I do not have a personal preference between the two, it really depends on what you prefer. Either way, I thought the steaks were delectable and we both enjoyed our steaks.

For the sides, we had the mash potato and truffle fries. The mash potato was soft and sticky with a tad of cream taste. The truffle was really subtle in the truffle fries compared to others weโ€™ve tried before but it was good enough.

Overall we would recommend coming here for date nights or dinner with friends especially if you have the burpple deal option.

Tried their Ribeye steak using burpple 1 for 1 on a Tuesday night. There was probably 2 customers in store. The wait for the steak was long....
Steak came medium rare as requested. Meat was tasty but too chewy. Mash was on point. Overall still value for money with 1 for 1.

Got the 1 for 1 Ribeye steaks and it was quite underwhelming. The steaks were served slightly under lukewarm temperature and the presentation was below expectation. The meat was more chewy than tender, but was fortunately not tough like other steak places and was still decent enough to finish. The sauce was quite good, and the meat was tasty despite the serving temperature. The sides were below average too. Overall fine for a 1 for 1 experience, but would not call it a worthwhile or great steak!

The standard of steak dropped, it was very chewy and the mashed potato was too watery. The salad had no sauce as well. Quite disappointed as it is drastically worse than my previous good experiences here.

Got two ribeye steaks, one medium rare with truffle fries, and the other at medium doneness with the mashed potato.

The steaks were at the requested doneness, and the meat was tender and tasty as well. The sauce was good (as usual).

However, the mashed potato tasted closer to sour cream, and left much to be desired as compared to previous visits.

Ordered 2 ribeye and 1 sirloin, all medium rare. sirloin came rare and both ribeyes came well done. Brought my friend here for his birthday but he said the steak was a disappointment. Mashed potatoes had no taste, not even seasoned with salt or pepper. Only decent thing was the truffle fries. Not even worth with burpple 1 for 1. Will not come again.

Ordered 2 sets with entertainer 1 for 1 - medium rare and medium. The steaks were decent but would say that it is only worth with the 1 for 1. Got to try both truffle fries and mashed potato for the side dishes. Would recommend sticking to truffle fries as the mashed potato had a weird aftertaste. The sauce goes pretty well with the steak but it was not proportional to the quantity of steak being served. It is a cozy restaurant and service was pretty fast as well!

an acceptable steak but doneness consistency is lacking. good for a quick steak fix if you have burpple beyond, but would personally think twice if paying full price, especially if not cooked right. sides are either mashed potatoes or truffle fries. mashed potatoes were tasty, truffles fries not so.

Both rare, one with truffle fries and another with mashed potato. Both sides were great!

Steaks were awesome, though we expected it to be a lot less chewy. Seemed better the last 2 times we were here!

$30.90 is really worth it for 2 steaks though!
