It is time. The moment that you’ve all been waiting for. Or at least the moment that 3 or 4 of you have been waiting for. No more lines like “the soup coated my palate like silk wrapped around my tongue”. No more shenanigans involving rambles of passion and tales of bravado. No more lengthy introductory passages. No m

Im doing it again aren’t I

PLACE
Shophouse, coffee shop-ish, alley seatings when it gets crowded, very old school stuff

FOOD
1️⃣ Shanghai Xiao Long Bao ($4.50/4 pieces) - one of the best xiao long baos in singapore don’t @ me
2️⃣ Beancurd Prawn Roll ($3/2 pieces) - I love this shit it’s savoury it’s salty it’s sweet and it’s bomb
3️⃣ Steamed Salted Egg Custard Bun ($4.50/3 pieces) - I don’t normally condone salted egg stuff especially if it’s super tacky but this product of novelty is actually not that bad at all
4️⃣ Drunken Chicken In Shao Xing Wine ($6.50) - one of the better drunken chicken dishes I’ve had in my time

VERDICT
It’s swee choon you’ve all been there and if you haven’t, I

While Swee Choon is synonymous with supper, a go-to place to satisfy all your dim sum cravings; my favourite item on their menu is strangely the Chilled Coconut Pudding 椰子布丁 ($4.80). Made from coconut juice, the pudding was light, soft and lusciously smooth. It was also nicely chilled, not-too-sweet and delivered a lingering fragrance. Then couple all that with the tender flesh as you scrape the insides of the young coconut, the dessert is a perfect palate cleaser and seems to soothe the throat after all the fried indulgence.

Comfort food and not much waiting time involved.

Way more affordable and still taste reasonable as compared to other dim sum places.

Their xiao long bao was beyond my expectations! The soup and filling tasted nice (similar to restaurants with higher price) although the skin needs to be thinner

This glutinous chicken is one of the recommended items at 2.50. Very palatable and look at the large mushroom and chunks of meat given. I enjoyed this much more than my mee sua kueh which came really fast but I think it was just taken off the takeaway counter. Having said that, it’s been ages since I’ve been to swee choon and I must say business is BOOMING. I came at 5.50pm (opened at 6pm) and there was a snaking long queue of both locals and tourists. Dim sum is generally served fast and I guess the affordable meals and large variety of HK and Shanghai Dim Sum keep people going back!
