I first tried their egg tart in HK and I fell in love with them!! Though I have no particular preference for the type of tart (chinese / portugese) but omg I really love this buttery tart crust!! I JUST CAN'T STOP AT ONE!!!! It cost $2 for one, which I think is pretty affordable considering its location!! Grab them as a post meal dessert ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’š

Do not give these treats from @taicheongsg a miss when youโ€™re at @takashimayasg! โคโคโค The original Egg Tart ($2) is my ultimate all-time favourite -ย  freshly baked in-house daily, the buttery & crumbly crust encases a smooth yet firm egg custard that isnโ€™t too sweet. ๐Ÿ˜‹ The vibrant yellow simply screams EAT ME! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
.
If you have not tried the other pastries, you just got to as they are equally delightful! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
.
๐Ÿ”น๏ธPandan Tart ($2) - a local spin-off from the signature egg tart, the irresistible fragrance of pandan infused in the egg custard was quite a winner! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š
.
๐Ÿ”น๏ธCoconut Tart ($2.65) - what an old-school treat! Featuring finely-grated coconut ๐Ÿฅฅ that renders a nice juicy crunch, this makes a sweet treat! Topped with a bit of maraschino cherry for a pretty finishing touch. ๐Ÿ’
.
๐Ÿ”น๏ธDurian & Cheese Tart ($3.85) - fans of the King of Fruits would be pleased with this tart made with ๐Ÿ’ฏ real durian fruit puree which boasts of the intense pungent-sweet flavours, slightly mellowed by the equally creamy cheese. LEGIT! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
.
๐Ÿ”น๏ธChicken Pie ($3) - if youโ€™re a fan of savoury treats, youโ€™re not left out! ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป The chicken pie filling was creamy & luscious with a hint of pepper, which compliments the buttery pastry with a slight tinge of sweetness. ๐Ÿ˜‹
.
Complete your tea break with their Egg Tart set ($3.50) at @takashimayasg B2 Food Village! โœ” Comes with Hong Kong Milk Tea/Coffee/Yuan Yang, you can sip on your hot/cold beverage โ˜• & savour their decadent egg tart leisurely! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Chanced upon their newest outlet at Novena Square 2, next to Barcook Bakery. It just opened today (1 December). Got both the original flavour and pandan egg tart. I personally prefer the original. The pandan one has a very subtle pandan flavour which isn't overpowering. However, I felt that the plain egg custard was softer and smoother. The crust for both is biscuit-like rather than flaky layers, but still buttery and crumbly.
Price: $2 each

Tai Cheongโ€™s Signature Egg Tarts (S$2.00) won a lot of attention based on my Instagram feed, so out of curiosity I decided to give it a try. Unlike the usual pastry shell that I would expect from the traditional egg tarts that I was exposed to, the egg tart shell here was cookie-style which then promised more crunch. The custard curd was also within expectation: smooth with a sufficient degree of sweetness.

Sadly, it was not as outstanding as I had hoped for it to be, which also meant that I might pick this up if I were nearby, and not something that I would go out of the way to buy.

Fall in, fellow bread lovers ๐Ÿฅฏ - Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ll enjoy this BOLO Bun as much as I did! Had this Scrambled Eggs with Bolo Bun & Luncheon Meat ($6.90) from @taicheongsg! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Time to head down to their Express stall at @takashimayasg B2 Food Village & share it with your BFFs! ๐Ÿ˜‰
.
Absolutely adored the Bolo Bun ($2.35/pc), which is another of their signature! โค I am critical about my breads - gotta balance the right amount of pillowy softness with actual substance with a nice chew (i.e. canโ€™t be too airy fairy), & this bun ticks the boxes for me! โœ”โœ”โœ” My favourite part has got to be the crusty & crumbly top that had a nice balance of sweet & buttery flavours! ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹
.
Paired with a silky & creamy egg hill of egg folds ๐Ÿณ that is just lightly seasoned & savoury pan-fried luncheon meat strips, this was an indulgent tea break for me! ๐Ÿ’• You can choose to have it on toast instead of Bolo Bun but trust me, the Bolo Bun is truly worth the eat! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
.
If you are looking for something lighter, you can go for @taicheongsgโ€™s Bolo You Bun set ($3.90) which comes with a drink of your choice (Hong Kong Milk Tea, Coffee or Yuan Yang (Tea & Coffee Mix)! โ˜•

Who can resist these lovely egg tarts especially for an egg lover like me ๐Ÿค— Beautiful golden crispy crumble crust with mid-sweet soft egg custard. Perfect for teabreak! They have pandan flavour too, which I always tell myself to try next time ๐Ÿ˜‚
