Reviews

From the Burpple community

Despite hearing rave reviews for the prawn noodle, we didn’t manage to try it that day but instead what we have ordered include the Pencil Fries with Tom Yum Mayo ($3.90) and the stall’s signature SG Umami Pizza ($15.90). The former is a great complement with a pint of beer as the unusual pencil fries are dressed in a mildly spicy tom yum mayo while the latter is the winner of the evening. The 10-inch thin crusted pizza is made from scratch upon order and comes with a tomato base and topped with a secret umami sauce, sweet onions, Sakura ebi and a generous serving of bonito flakes that gave it the distinctive umami-ness. This is definitely fusion done right and with a lively environment surrounding it, you can easily gather a few friends, order a few pizzas and sides, and wash them down with some beer.

The entire canteen has been revamped into a hipster beer garden environment, perfect for the upcoming Oktoberfest festival and Ben currently owns two stalls there, one of it being @geonbae_loklok. Each of the lok lok skewer is priced at $1.50 with more premium items such as abalone and lobster at $8.80 each. The major differences in their lok lok, as compared to the rest out there, are that the skewers are coated in a gochujang sauce and they have unique Korean street food offerings such as tteokbokki and gimmari besides the usual pork belly, sausages, and mushrooms. You will also be given a Thai green chilli dipping sauce that gives a nice refreshing tang, which changes the flavour profile from each bite. To complement the lok lok, there is a Tiger Beer counter that sells beer by the bottle, pint or tower.
