Opened on 16 Jan 2022, Yi Qian serves up Cantonese and Teochew fare helmed by ex-Golden Palace Chef Raymond (莊港明) who started off as an apprentice in HK’s famous Lei Garden. The entrance of the restaurant is tucked away in a commercial building along Leng Kee Road. Worth a visit to bring family or clients who enjoy Chinese to some place different, a hideout of surprising and tasty takes on Cantonese/teochew fare. The menu can be customised to your guests’ taste.
This pig’s stomach and chicken soup serves 4-6 and is a whole kampung chicken wrapped in a pig’s stomach boiled in white pepper soup. Broth is boiled for 4 hrs in high heat with a myriad of spices. Pre order required.
Enjoyed this sweet finish, where the soft yam sticks are covered in a frosted outer coating which would make it irresistible for those who would normally veer away from yam.
A signature at Yi Qian dining, this 2 part dish is to be tasted separately. A different take from the usual and accompanied by a flavourful, and light tasting broth, for those who still take to it.
Really enjoyed this one I think it’s something that the folks will be talking about in this unusual but tasty mix.
A speciality in Hong Kong, a strong fragrance of belachan and shrimps but surprisingly light to taste.
Definitely had the wok hey, can’t say no to a good char kway teow.
