Fresh uni served atop squid ink pudding - visually pleasing with that bright yellow against black. While the squid ink had a very rich and strong seafood flavor which would tend to mask the sweetness of the uni, the combination of these 2 creamy texture actually satisfy my taste buds very much! It's a good starter while waiting for the rest of the dishes to be served!
Probably the most obscenely buttery-tasting scrambled eggs I have ever had. So depraved in silkiness I swear it's barely legal. Which is probably why just like Rihanna and her entourage, it comes surrounded on all sides by a gang of housemade rosemary sausage patties (these were slightly sweet and yummy), little blocks of cheddar cheese, herb-grilled tomatoes and toasted sourdough.
It seems that Sacha & Sons now offer two different types of bagel now; a pumpkin seed one and the sesame seed bagel that we were used to seeing. There is no doubt that their Bagel is still as delicious as it was; savoury smoked salmon slices, luscious and thick cream cheese and capers that burst off savoury, pickled flavours. If only the bagel itself was served a little more warm, and less dense it would have been perfect.
One of the cheapest and best Shibuya Toasts around — the toast is so buttery, it lingers on your lips for days (in a good way, of course). Go for their Mango or Coconut ones!
That's how much each tart costs when you get a box of eight of these silky smooth beauties for $9! Don't bother wondering if you can really finish all 8. They'll be gone in a flash.
Take your loved one, or hang out with your mates at this French dining; offering 3 course set lunch at only $22.90. But don't expect a great service attached to that price tag.
pretty hard to find good pasta at such an affordable price nowadays, furthermore without GST and service charge!
the palatable aglio olio wasn't dry at all, and it was well-seasoned with olive oil, pepper garlic and chilli! texture was just nice and the prawns were so fresh and firm, with a char-after taste. totally affordable at the price for 5 prawns!
After a short pop-up stint at Junction 8, Jenny Bakery has finally opened its doors in Singapore (their very first outpost, we're so flattered!) in the heartlands of Ang Mo Kio. For those of you who've had the privilege of tasting a Jenny Bakery cookie before, it's certain you know just how crumbly these babies are. For those who haven't, either get in that queue or hope that someone in that queue likes you a lot, and is planning to pick one up for you. Go for the 4 Mix Butter Cookies which comes with Hard Butter, Coffee, Raisin, and Oat flavours, and decide which you like best ($25 for 320g tin, $45 for 640g tin). Directly flown out of its factory in Hong Kong, these butter bombs command a fairly ridiculous queue, so come early — they sell out fast!
Friends who have known me for a long time would know all about my rather strict mother. Because of my curfew, having supper was a very rare occurrence for me a few years ago. Those trips could only happen if my club's basketball training would end early (which really happened once in a blue, blue moon). My teammates and I would troop down to Seng Kee's Changi Road outlet for some team bonding over a steaming bowl of mee sua.
I can still vividly remember having my first bowl. Just one sip of the rich flavourful herbal soup, and I was sold! Grabbing my chopsticks and ignoring how hot the soup was, I tucked in steadily. The mee sua and the fresh pork meat and organs were all on point. The table would be oddly quiet while we wolfed everything down greedily, as we were too hungry after training. However, I returned a few times occasionally, and noticed a sharp drop in standard. Thankfully, I recently found that they have another branch at Kaki Bukit Food Market, where the taste is just as I remembered it to be five years back! Having a bowl of it now still reminds me of all the post-training bonding session I used to have with my teammates. #hawkerpedia
