Cured duck breast, torched orange segments, toasted hazelnuts, arugula with honey mustard coulis. I took a bite of the cured duck and the taste is very very familiar! Hahaha! My power tongue instantly where this duck came from! Hahahahaha!!! I also enjoy this very much! Foie gras terrine! Yummy!
Served as the second main of the 5 course set lunch is the iberico pork with fried pork skin, apple puree, onion espuma and roasted shallots. Cooked till medium, the pork was still juicy and tender. The green apple puree adds a touch of acidity to lighten the dish and the pork crackling was definitely crunchy!
There's nothing on this table of appetizers that we don't love!
Our favorites include the seared tuna with green papaya and jicama salad, and unique coal baked omelet with smoked haddock, tarragon and grain mustard mornay.
We'll definitely be back all too soon!
This gorgeous shophouse along Ann Siang Road has the perfect setting for that special meal. Be sure to make reservations for a table, but try your luck to get a seat at the counter to watch the chefs at work. If not, dine at the beautifully-lit communal table downstairs, it is one that allows you to have an intimate conversation while enjoying the convivial ambience Lolla offers. Order a bottle of wine, and start with the humble Tomato Salad ($15); the uber fresh, plump, sweet tomatoes (they change seasonally) are dressed simply in olive oil, parsley, and olive soil. Then, move on to the mind-blowing Sea Urchin & Squid Ink Pudding ($22 for a half portion, good for 2 pax) â a velvety-smooth pudding topped with uni so fresh and creamy it transports you to the sea. If you have any fear of offal, this unbelievably tasty Beef Tripe ($23) might just change your mind. It is first braised to pack in flavour, then grilled over charcoal to provide crisp edges and a good hit of smokiness. End your meal with light-as-air Doughnuts with Lemon Curd ($12).
[čĺŚĺćżé˘ / grandma ban mee, #01-07] A new ban mian stall has popped up in Amoy. Menu has only three types of ban mian : chilli, soup and dry. Noodles were quite q and I actually enjoyed the chilli! Wasn't too spicy. Balachan(?) on the counter was pretty intense though. appetizing bowl of noodles and they were quite generous with their ingredients of minced meat, earthy mushroom and black fungus. ($5)
Gotta say, after eating some of the best Korean fried chicken in Korea itself, Chir Chir wasn't too bad. The Nest Snow was definitely something different from the regular ěë (spicy) chicken I'm used to having; fried chicken bathed in a cheesy cream sauce and topped with whipped cream. Unique and tasty!
So were we. Pretty affordable, and most stuff are homemade! Awesome. đđ Featuring: The Big Brekky ($14) from @free.the.robot #EatWithKu
Happy to bump into some foodie pals there yesterday also, very qiao hahaha!

Usually a wait of > 30 minutes, I can easily finish the platter all by myself đ
Joy of comfort food!
Let's just say that Joe's has become the Burpple team's absolute favourite Thai restaurant. This humble little Thai kitchen opened by Joe and Jamie in 2006 boasts super flavorful Tom Yum soup that has just the right amount of spice and tang, and big portions of juicy, fragrant pandan chicken for extremely reasonable prices. Spot the Burpple sticker on their front door!
The snaking queue at this famous dakgalbi restaurant from Korea is testament to its popularity. For the uninitiated, Galbi is basically meat marinated in a ganjang-based sauce that is grilled at the table. The star here is none other than Yoogane's Chicken Galbi ($14.90 per serving) â moreish, spicy marinated chicken cooked with rice cakes and vegetables. Add on some ramen or sweet potato noodles for carbs, if chicken alone doesn't fill you up. For something more extravagant, the Marinated Chicken Galbi Fried Rice ($14.90), loaded with gooey mozzarella cheese fried and bulgogi chicken is sure to satisfy! Come with good friends, you'll be spending some time in that queue ;)
KEK is one of those rare zi char places with friendly and prompt service, and it's perfect for big groups of friends or for a family gathering. Expect simple, homely dishes that are big on flavour, such as the Moonlight Hor Fun ($5/8/12/16) â lush wok hei hor fun with Chinese sausage, prawns, beansprouts and lard, finished with a raw egg that completely transforms the dish when you mix it in. The Fried Salted Egg Crab is another crowd favourite, think fresh crab tossed in a "thick, buttery salted egg sauce with a hint of spiciness", as Tastemaker Marc T. describes. The Coffee Ribs ($8) are a hit as well, tender on the inside, and glazed with a sweet, sticky coffee sauce. There are both outdoor and indoor seating, make sure you call ahead for reservations!
It is inadvisable to come here on any day other than Friday, and that's cos you're gonna need some time on Saturday to work off what you ate the night before. Juuust kidding! No scared. This oh-so-freaking-juicy fried chicken is worth Every. Single. Calorie. Grab anyone who doesn't mind watching (or joining) you stuff your face with beautifully crisp chicken skin, and breast meat so tender you won't believe it. Always, always ask for extra gravy to dunk that skin and all those fries in. Don't complicate matters by ordering the two-piece meal or any other combo, just go ahead and get at LEAST the Half Spring Chicken Meal ($7.10) for yourself. If you're a big eater, one whole spring chicken ($11.90) will be just right, seriously. Don't you dare get utensils for this. Pro tip: order takeaway and wait half the time, sit at the hawker centre nearby!
