The Book Cafe is one of those hidden gems with the perfect ambience for work. Although it's a tad inaccessible, you'll be ensured a quiet and comfortable environment with excellent service that will make you feel at home. Complete with plush couches and good lighting, their simple yet satisfying food and coffee will not disappoint.
The idea of combining an art class centre and a cafe, is ingenious. This is how Cups N Canvas has set itself apart from the hundreds of other cafes. If you think arts is the only thing they specialize in, you'd be pleasantly surprised with their delicious Blanc Bacon pasta, and fragrant Cafe Latte. Cups N Canvas seems to have it all. You can literally smell art in this cafe.
Dessert-lovers rejoice - Kki is finally open after their 8-month hiatus, and in a more convenient location to boot! Grab a cuppa to go with your stunning cake, and relax in this lovely space. Go for the Onigri, a Basil Dark Chocolate mousse cake with a Bitter Orange soft-core centre.
First day of opening, and we couldn't wait to be the first customers! ;) Happy to have a neat little cafe so near home. Lovely decor, but very limited items on the menu for now, shall check back again soon.
A collab with the popular Sarnies, The Lokal features breakfast and lunch items like Triple Cheese & Mushroom toasties, Veal schnitzel burger, and excellent coffee. Great to have another quality cafe in the Duxton area!
A very hungry Burppler, Celest, puts it perfectly: "This is chocolate - in cake form". Don't bother resisting the urge, just buy a whole cake and we assure you it'll be love at first bite. You won't want to share it, but you'll have to, cos it's just too darn good. It's a tough fight between the original and the dark chocolate, they're both excellent. Their molten lava cake is a must-try as well, with warm oozing cake sitting atop cold ice cream in cup- the perfect combination of hot and cold with extra oozy chocolate!
Translated as "the Tiramisu workshop", this new kid on the block is a strong contender for serving up the best Tiramisu in Singapore. Crowd favourites are the Classico, gorgeously light and aromatic, as well as the Dark Cherry, great for those who love intense liquer and cognac notes. To make the experience complete, you can enjoy a beautifully made cup of coffee along with your tiramisu. It might interest you to know that the coffee used in the tiramisu is pulled from Liberty beans!
It takes a lot of willpower to resist ordering everything at Lady M - everything looks SO GOOD. Their signature Mille Crepe seems to be synonymous with their name, and with good reason. Think "20 silky sheets of handmade crepes alternated with pastry cream, with a golden, caramelised top. Melt-in-the-mouth goodness.". If you're a fan of green tea and in luck - go for the seasonal green tea version.
Ciel Patisserie serves cakes that are more than worth every penny; pleasing to the eyes, palate and wallet. The Fuji, perhaps their most unique creation, is a green tea cake with lychee gelee. Their Strawberry Shortcake is very well-executed and to-die-for. Grabbing cakes and drinks in this small but lovely cafe could very well be one of life's simplest pleasures. Given its location, Ciel is indeed a hidden gem.
The Bakery Chef offers quality bakes that are damn delicious and very pretty (read: instagram-worthy). They offer dessert buffets every now and then, for when you're feeling indulgent. The Chocolate Guanaja has an intense chocolate flavour, and the Rainbow cake, infused with passionfruit and lemon, sells out fast. If you suffer from the pain of being indecisive, go for their dessert platter. Grab your friends along because good friends share calories, right?!
If you enjoy simple dates where you can just kick back and relax with your favorite person over a heart meal, Kombi Rocks is a great choice. Enjoy a sunset date with a Root Beer Float and share a Kombi-nation platter. Sounds good!
