Opened by the Les Amis Group, Comnam serves up Vietnamese cơm tấm, giving Singaporeans a taste of Vietnam that is rarely offered here. Cơm tấm is a Vietnamese dish made with broken rice and is usually served with grilled pork. At Comnam, try the pork cutlet rice bowl, which comes with pork strips, pickled vegetables, and a tamago omelette. You get to choose between Vietnamese broken rice and kimchi brown rice, though you should try the broken rice first. At $9.90 for a set lunch, portions are generous and make for a filling meal.
FIX, a brand new cafe opened by the people behind GRUB, brings you the naanwich. These signature naan/sandwich fusions come with a variety of fillings like chicken tikka, smoked turkey ham & cheese, and even beef & kimchi, all nicely wrapped in soft naan and served with a side of cheesy nachos. Be sure to try their range of desserts, which are all made in-house. Located at HomeTeamNS @ Balestier, you'll even get to enjoy good food with a poolside view. Not too shabby.

Found another goody for my breakfast. Sure, it's practically invisible alongside the heftier, more colourful and exciting-sounding sandwiches on display but at $4, this was the cheapest. Plus it tastes damn good.
After being warmed up, the croissant looks a little deflated but its butteriness is brought strongly to the fore (which is way more important!) The Emmenthal cheese has become all gooey, glueing the ham and croissant into a gratifying yumminess.

I wondered why the chicken chop here is their second most recommended dish. Similarly it baffled me that people would pay $13.90 for a chicken chop. And then I ate it. I can't place the seasoning or flavour but I will go back the next time round to order it with the sauce on the side so that I can taste more of the original flavour of the chicken. According to one of the staff, the Korean restaurant down the block tried to ask them for their secret ingredient!
What more can I say?
Duck leg with pork & sausage. A pleasant surprise to find such good french food in my neighbourhood. Truly a gem.
