Well seared Foie sitting atop a flavourful, yet not overly irony, locally sourced blood sausage, deliciously juicy housemade apple mostarda (if @brassicabkk could bottle this up itād be greaaat for Christmas giftings) served with @amanteebakeryās crusty Chestnut Apple & Walnut Sourdough and a fresh Arugula salad.

Walk right into the basement of Katong Shopping Centre and allow your nose to lead you. On days when they are open, the delicious aroma of buttery pastry permeates the air.
Their best seller: Banana Coconut Pie
Made with Pisang Raja, itās encased in a tart shell with flakes of coconut and chopped peanuts on top. Personally not a fan of bananas myself but these I tried after much persuasion and even went in for a second helping afterwards. Bomb diggidy!

Crust and crumb were fantastic, distinctive acidity of the dough itself well complimented the savouriness of the cheeses.
Another go-to favourite thatās great for family/friends/colleague groups. Fu Lin Tou Fu Yuan. Theyāve been around for awhile now even opened a few branches, each claiming theyāre the āoriginalā, but this till today still remains the best tasting one.
Iām particularly careful when having Yong Tau Foo as most of YTF ingredients contain fish paste or bean by products which tend to turn sour if left out for too long. Iāve never had to worry about that here; they refresh their items regularly and everything looks fresh.
If you ordered too much (like we did), theyāll usually separate the crispy items from the rest and fill that plate with less meat gravy so it doesnāt turn soggy too quickly.
Favourites are definitely the crispy ęé¹
and jumbo Cheese Sausage.

Itās sandwiched with not one, but two slices of cheese and that pretty much made my day. Im a strong believer that any burger should be served with two slices of cheese; extra cheese always makes an impact!
Also I love both @brawn_and_brains outlets, but thereās something about the spaciousness of this one that gives it a little more edge.

Properly known as JB Fried Bee Hoon on their menu, Seng Keeās rendition of this pan fried vermicelli, hands down, beats any other Chaota Bee Hoon Iāve ever had BY A MILE.
They give a proper crisp char to the top, and beneath that crown hides a variety of seafood, sprouts and fragrant bits of fried egg. Do it justice and savour it with the sambal chilli & lime served on the side.
Opens all day and till the wee hours (4am), fantastic supper joint without having to queue for such hearty midnight munchies.

Simple yet executed with precision. We chose to have this variation with their handmade pasta; served with a good chewy bite, we loved how well seasoned and coated each piece was, perfumed by the occasional bite into a cracked black pepper.
