Finally made it to @theblackswansg and I don’t know why I didn’t visit sooner!
Crushing on the looks of this converted Colonial building with its huge double doors, high ceiling, deep teal-coloured walls completed with gold and bronze furnishings. Elegant and inviting without being overbearing.
Meet Chef @alysiareynechan’s recommendation (also right now, my favourite dish on the menu), the super juicy Roasted Hokkaido Pork Loin with Vanilla Cauliflower Purée, Raisin & Pinenut Agrodolce and a Fennel Nashi Pear Salad.
At first I was skeptical on the addition of vanilla to the purée, but it added an extra dimension of creaminess to the dish, especially when you have it with the raisins and vinegary mustard seeds. Damn, that’s delicious.
Can’t wait to be back!
Only available during dinner.

It’s no secret that this renowned Bali bakery has entered our Singapore scene and nestled itself within a very unassuming spot along Havelock Road.
They have a relatively aged starter resulting in more sour tasting breads, although, they do compliment really well with their open-faced toast/sandwich combinations (think Meaty Mushrooms, 3-Cheese, Avocado Bawang).
Favourite Posh Toast was this sweet variation with their housemade Mascarpone, Walnuts, Bee Pollen and Black Sea Salt. I’ve always preferred more spreads, so I wished there was a thicker schmear of Mascarpone that I could sweep up with that beauty of a crust though.

Supper was such a treat last night. We hit up Yakiniku Jan Jan, located in the heart of the bustling Cuppage night scene. Their buffet selection includes high quality Japanese meats alongside Korean banchan and even cold noodles. The marinated Beef Short Ribs were my favourite!
Get the free flow alcohol for additional 15bucks per person.
Each dining group will have 2 hours for their meal with the last order at the 1.5hour mark.

Heres one of my favourite dishes at @oliviarestaurant_sg.
Octopus, Crispy Pork Belly, Potato Foam
Dig deep for those sweet caramelized onions.
So. Damned. Good.
Fantastic date night spot or a place catch up with your closest friends over legitimate Spanish soul food.

Newly opened within Paya Lebar Quarter, popular South Korean fast-food chain @momstouch.love has finally hit our shores.
Complete with an alfresco dining area adjacent to the outdoor water features, despite the recent raging hot weather, it was a surprisingly enjoyable dining experience for us, especially with the occasional breeze in the late evening.
Having tasted three of their burgers, the unanimous favourite was easily their signature Mom’s Thigh Burger (5.7bucks or get the meal for 6.8bucks from now till 31October19), complete with a thick Fried Chicken Thigh Patty, housemade Sweet Garlic Mayo, lettuce, pickles sandwiched between lightly toasted buns. Cajun fries were great!
If you prefer heavier flavours and more-salt-on-everything like me, I’ll suggest the Cheese Bacon Burger (7bucks) which is essentially Mom’s Thigh Burger with extra Bacon strips and that goopy nacho cheese sauce you’ll find at Cinemas.
On the whole, definitely tilting the gourmet scale for a fast-food chain but I’ll suggest to give it a couple more months before making a visit for them to refine their processes and also so that you won’t have to wait 30minutes for a quick service joint.
Flavours of a Caprese Salad carefully translated into the finest tomato soup under the artful hands of Chef @gregabess. Someone finally made tomato soup exciting.
Took a swipe of that rich creamy butter with the crusty bread (essential that it’s crusty, makes up for texture once it goes into the soup. Attention to detail 💯) then dunked straight into that glorious sunset-orange tangy tomato soup. Gets elevated even further when you scoop up the occasional spring of micro basil.
Bread > Tomato Butter > Soup > Repeat.
I wish it didn’t end. Bring on those seconds and thirds!

I’d have this on a hot day, rainy day, all day! I had this 3 times last week 🤤
Super tender braised pork with plenty of gelatinous cartilage on top of slightly chewy rice noodles and broth made from steeping fish bones, providing it with flavour, depth and they even incorporated some orange peel to brighten the broth and remove any unwanted stale fishy flavour. Turn up the heat with their dried chili oil provided on the side of every table.
Tsui Wah is also known for only seating a table when all parties have arrived, otherwise you’ll have to wait in line till that always on-my-way-friend shows up. You’ve been warned.

One of my favourite go-tos for spectacularly executed Classic French food.

Since this came highly recommended by foodies @alldecked and @veronicaphua, I knew I was missing out.
Finally made my way there (weekday 3pm, no queue yesss!), ordered the soup version despite the hot weather, but was still souper satisfied. Their meat+veg is to noodle ratio is quite literally 1:1 and, for 4.3bucks a bowl, that’s a real steal.
At L32, their eggs are cracked into your bowl before they ladle piping hot soup over (unlike most other joints who boil their eggs together with the soup) which results in an onsen-type egg white and very runny yolk. Thoroughly enjoyed the thickeness of their noodles, and the simple but tasty white pepper seasoning on their lean meats.
I’d say, as good as my favourite BanMian joint in Toa Payoh Blk 186. Can’t wait to come back for the dry version!
