Came here during dinner time and most bread was sold out. Managed to get the Mentaiko France as they were refiling them.
It's basically a baguette filled with Mentaiko. I ate mine the next day after heating it up in the air fryer. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I was also surprised that the inside had Mentaiko as well. I really like Mentaiko but I wished they balanced the salty Mentaiko with something sweet like mayo as the bread was a little on the salty side for me.
One thing I liked was the attitude of each staff member. They were very friendly and always smiling.
Ordered the Pickled Shredded Pork Noodle.
The soup was good. Salty, tangy and slightly spicy. It had a strong pickled vegetable taste. The pork was not bad, it did not have any porky smell. Noodles were cooked Al dente. There were also beansprout. The ratio of noodles to ingredients was good. Overall, was satisfied with the meal.
The lady was also very friendly. If you can't take spicy, no worries. The addition of chili is optional.
Been craving for waffles so decided to try the ones here.
Got the plain waffle. Waffles were piping hot and thick. I like how the waffles are thicker than what you usually get elsewhere. It tasted not bad and the sweetness level was just nice. The only complaint I have is the low quality paper bag that they use. It has a certain smell which gets transferred to the waffles.
Got the Signature Minced Pork Sanshoku Mazesoba which comprises of dried truffle paste, dried shrimp paste, minced meat, spring onion, bamboo shoot, seaweed, onsen egg and ramen.
I mixed the noodles and it was a lovely pairing. You get some of the truffle taste, umami shrimp paste, savoury minced meat, tender bamboo shoots, fresh spring onion and a creamy egg. Ramen was also Al dente. Each element complimented one other. Only downside was the temperature of the dish. It was more towards cold and room temperature as compared to a hot meal.
They also served a bowl of soup which was a little weird as it was very peppery.
I also opted for a bowl of rice at the end so that the left over ingredients would not be wasted. I actually preferred the rice compared to the ramen as the piping hot rice made the dish warm and comforting.
Overall not the best but still good and filling.
I wanted something sweet so I decided to check out Chocolate Origin. The lady in charge of the shop was very helpful and gave some recommendations.
I decided to get the Matcha Lava Cake which is their new flavour. When I received the cake, I was a little shocked as it wasn't as green as the display. The cake's texture was like a steamed cake/kueh with a thick liquid-y center. The matcha was light and not bitter. The sweetness was good, not too sweet. The ice cream was nice and chilled.
Overall I prefer the chocolate one instead of the matcha flavour.
Got the Sugar Roll with sugar coating.
Love the cake. It was soft, light and not dry. The sweetness was just nice. The sugar coating added a nice texture to the cake as well. Cream was a little oily but ok.
Ordered the Beef Special Soup Set via Foodpanda. Got normal spicy with glass noodle and Thai milk tea.
The soup was not bad but I felt like there was a lot of msg(?) Glass noodles felt more like those thick bee hoon as it wasn't chewy as I had expected. Soup had some kangkong, beef slices and sadly 1 1/2 of sliced meatball.
Their thai milk tea is a little different. Their milk tea was a little more astringent. Not really to my liking but what I do like was that it wasn't too sweet.
Overall food is not as good as the one I had at golden mile complex.
A cafe which hires people with special needs.
Came here for lunch and got the Bangers & Rosti with sour cream. I added the Major Set Meal ($7.50) which includes Soup of the Day, Hot Beverage/ Iced Ribena and 1 Scoop of Gelato of the Day.
Soup of the day was mushroom soup. It was flavourful and had bits of mushroom in it.
For my drink, I chose lced Vanilla Cream. Additional $0.30 for iced version. It was essentially milk with vanilla. Couldn't detect the vanilla though.
The Bangers & Rosti, I chose the chicken cheese bratwurst. The sausage was good. Firm and yummy. Rosti was great with crispy edges and tender shredded potatoes. Sour cream was surprisingly on the sweet side. The side salad was drizzled with a refreshing dressing.
Gelato of the day was After 8 (Chocolate Mint). The gelato had a nice velvety consistency.
Came here with my friend for lunch and we got the Bacon & Hash ($24), Mushroom Scramble ($17) and Sticky Date Pudding ($12).
Got the Bacon & Hash- housemade rosti, poached eggs, thick-cut bacon, wilted spinach and mushroom cream.
I love how the rosti was super crispy.
Poached egg were very plain and the sauce didn't really help.
Thick-cut bacon was less saltier then the bacon you usually get from the supermarket. However I didn't really like it as it did had a weird chemical(?) taste and was quite tough to chew.
Wilted spinach at the bottom added a good nutritional value to the dish.
Mushroom cream was quite bland and thick.
Mushroom Scramble- housemade sourdough, scrambled eggs, cauliflower, feta, crispy kale
Sourdough was nicely toasted with crispy edges.
Scrambled eggs were silky.
Cauliflower could be tastier.
Feta was ok.
Crispy kale added more texture to the dish.
Mushroom were good and earthy.
Sticky Date Pudding- banana, salted caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream
Sticky date pudding was disappointing. Pudding was like a cake. Overcooked.
Banana were evenly sliced.
Salted caramel sauce was really good. But tasted more like toffee.
Ice-cream was nice.
Overall enjoyed the mushroom Scramble and the potato Rosti. Maybe the next time round I would just get a plain rosti.
Came here for lunch on a Sunday with my church friend.
We both ordered the ALL TIME CLASSIC Potato Rosti
(with pork chipolata sausage, sunny eggs, confit cherry on vine and crème frâiche).
Rosti was crisp on the outside and was soft on the inside. The rosti was lightly seasoned.
Sausage were ok. Salty and soft.
Scrambled eggs were not bad. The menu stated sunny egg but we were served scrambled egg.
Cherry tomatoes were yummy and burst in your mouth.
Creme frâiche helped with the potato Rosti.
Overall not bad.
Ordered the Mala Ban Mian ($6.30).
I like how the noodles are packed separately from the soup. Noodles were al dente and not overcooked. Mala soup had a lot of oil and wasn't numbing. Soup was just a little spicy and did not deliver on the mala expectation.
The minced meat in the noodles were well marinated and had a good slightly bouncy texture. There were also dried shitake mushroom, bok choy, egg and ikan bilis.
I like how the aunty at the stall was super friendly. I would try their dry ban mian the next time round.
One of my favourite cuisine is Szechuan. Numbing and Spicy.
Came here for lunch and ordered their Chong Qing Grilled Fish 重庆烤鱼($18) and Spicy Chicken 歌乐山辣子鸡($10).
Grilled fish in this area are all prices at $18. Very affordable. The grilled fish was crispy and came in a flavourful and not too spicy broth, filled with vegetables. There were napa cabbage, green cabbage, black fungus, enoki mushroom, beancurd strips, beansprout and some green leafy vegetable.
Spicy chicken was not bad. Not the best but value for money. It was not too spicy and numbing and quite flavourful. Chicken was well fried and crispy. A good snack to have.
Service wise, it was not bad. The food was sent to our table and they gave us a total of 4 plates and cutlery when they saw that there were four of us at the table even though we only ordered 2 rice.
