While I appreciated the variety, some of the seafood were lacking in freshness. A drop in quality compared to my previous visit. Nonetheless, I guess it's worth a try at the promotional price of $11.90 (U.P $16.90)

You'd be spellbound by the umaminess and busy texturality at hand – from the crunchiness of the kale and wanton skin to the entertaining Russian Doll effect courtesy of the ikura, which explodes and squirts rather magnificently within a mouthful of the fluidly thick sous vide egg in similarly glorious manner of farting in the ocean. 4.1/5

DSTLLRY's Omakase dinner ranges from $95 (8-10 courses) to $120 (10-12 courses).

I hope some Japanese friends could answer this nagging question I had for several months. I've Googled but there are different definition, and none is consistent with the barachirashi and chirashi I've been seeing. But the Internet does agree that in Japanese culture, bara means gay. Indeed, bara chirashi is gay - cheerful and colourful due to its play on colours.
.
Dstllry's barachirashi has three types of fishes - salmon, maguro and hamachi. I like that it is slightly lighter in its use of the "secret" seasoning, which I think contains mirin, dashi and shoyu. I'm not a fan of Teppei during the times when they're heavy handed with their sauces (Teppei tend to be inconsistent, depending on how much seasoning they squeeze away from the marinated fishes just before serving).
.
The staff looked grumpy though. The restaurant's industrial theme is cold, though hip, and the black walls are gloomy, though chic. When the hardware lacks warmth, the software could do with a little smile.

Terrific value for money for the quality and quantity on display. The chilled truffle-scented angel hair pasta with avruga caviar and kawa ebi shrimps barges into your sensory pleasure memory orbs with the rapacious ruthlessness of a disgruntled Bukit Gombak-residing Ah Ma in a 6:13pm EW Line train and the éclair of Singapore-style chilli crab meat is an alluringly feisty little runt. Elsewhere, the dainty sweets - think masala chai tea cake, scones with honey kaya and plum preserve, baked apple crumble tart and bandung rose cream strawberry and lychee tart - completely overwhelms the arguably superior savoury and whacks the latter over the head with a clapping, shrieking seal, so give yourself the full two hours to indulge.
This was a hosted meal, courtesy of Portico Prime. The Portico Favourites menu is available Tuesdays to Sundays from 3-5pm at $48 per pax (with a minimum of two persons) with a choice of free flow tea or coffee, and you can pay an additional $10 for a glass of Torresella Prosecco Brut NV Italy.

Honey Kaya - it's da bomb!! Strong coconut aroma n taste. With a hint of sweetness of the wild honey. So yummy that I literally used a teaspoon to scoop all the remaining honey kaya sauce and eat it as it is... Pure bliss!
