A mixture of greens, including arugula, purple cabbage and lettuce, with sautรฉed mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, quail eggs, orange slices and 2 hefty pieces of Cajun-spiced chicken breast. Was pleasantly surprised by how tender and flavourful the chicken was :D I rarely just have salad for dinner (in fact, this is my first time) so I was thankful for the meat and eggs, and yummy addition of fruit and mushrooms to break the monotony of raw vege. I had a choice of lemon or balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The fresh vegetables tasted pretty good on their own too. This salad costs $10+ for a good portion, but I had the salad + pizza set ($13.80) which I felt was more value for money :)
Must try dishes: Marmite Chicken, Butter Pork Ribs, Chilli Crab with fried Mantous
No intentions to try but since I was in Dhoby Ghaut why not? Milkcow's soft serve seemed to be the better one in the competition so far; milky yet sweet enough without actually melting too fast. Its pretty rich and satisfying on its own. While the Milky Honey doesn't have Honeycomb in it you can actually feel the fibres within, and lacks the plasticky texture that some actually has. The only thing I wished was a more even drizzling of the liquid honey; the pool at the bottom was so sweet it quite burnt my throat by being really heaty towards the end.
Please reciprocate by heading on to fatassbean.wordpress.com for my thoughts on this new kid on (under) the block!
Hurray for a new cafe in the West again!
The presentation is cute, but on the other hand, I do find food served in flower pots a little off-putting, especially when it looks so much like soil. Just psychological, of course. Tastewise, this kitschy chocolate-and-cream innovation certainly did not deliver the satisfaction that comes from a boozy powerhouse of a traditional tiramisu, but then again, I don't suppose it's meant to be traditional in any sense.
โWhite chocolate and raspberry bit part ganache, rhubarb sorbetโโ this dessert is perfect for those who enjoy a lighter, refreshing, fruity (yet creamy) taste. This was probably my favourite out of all 5 desserts that we tried ๐ #PorticoSG #CoffeeAndCravings
Steam baked lean pork strips, flavored in citrus spicy apple BBQ sauce on top of tomato, cucumber and pickles sandwiched between two lightly butter toasted buns. Accompanied with fresh greens drizzled in their signature reduced balsamic vinaigrette. ($14.8) Crispy, fluffy churros doused generously with cinnamon and sugar ($8.8) - I prefer these to the highly raved Spanish doughnuts in orchard ๐๐ Latte ($4.2). They don't have gst just svc charge ๐
Tried a couple of flavours but I found a liking for the Sicilian Pistachio, which is made from Pistachios imported from Sicily. Ice-cream was smooth, creamy and nutty and lacked an overly heavy taste of dairy not was too sweet. Classic waffles are served here in half portions, which is filled with buttery fragrance with a fluffy interior. Slightly pricey as the waffles come at $5.00 and the ice-cream is an add on at $3.80 for regular flavours and $4.50 for premium flavours. Opt for the Berry Compote at $4.00 extra if you prefer waffles with a fruity touch.
With high ceilings, plywood tables, and humble stools, this cafe nestled in the Lavender/Jalan Besar area makes for a good stop for that caffeine fix while working on the go. True to their location, their special lavender latte ($5.50) is a total hit, as is their pancake stack served with bananas, ricotta, and drizzled with honey and crushed pistachio ($15). Remember to push the gold door if you're struggling to find the entrance!
hope you are enjoying your evening too!
You no longer have to travel all the way to Thailand to get your dose of coconut ice cream served in a husk. The people over at newly opened Pong can help you with just that. Get their bestseller - coconut gelato and sorbet in a flesh-filled coconut husk and served with a cup of coconut juice.
