Had the cheeseburger because of the $10 burger deals on tuesday (non inclusive of GST). Meat was juicy and burger portion was just nice. Only thing lacking was some fries to go along with the burger to complete the meal.

Part of lunch menu.

Udon came with a choice of hot/cold.

This placed truly changed my perception of udon being thick, fat and chewy. Inaniwa Udon is one of the top 3 udon that differentiates itself from the Kansai version with its thin and refined texture. It even has a glossy sheen to it! Was told that this noodle was served to royalty in the past and it is laborious to prepare (takes 4 days)!

For the cold udon, there are two types of tare (dipping sauces), shoyu and sesame. I only tried the former and it was so tasty especially after a lot a lot of grated wasabi added! Noodle texture was surprisingly springy, chewy and smooth! Every mouthful was refreshing after dipping into the shoyu and kept me wanting more!

Finally had the mood to queue for this bowl of gem at the keisuke-dominant tanjong district. Japanese rice base topped with pipping hot deep-fried prawn and chicken, vege of the day consists of pumpkin, long bean and shiitake mushroom. Definitely worth a mention is the deep-fried onsen egg. Who in the earth can have a flowing egg yolk after deep frying it! And that’s here at Ginza Itsuki! Another notable mention is that i managed to finish all the fried stuff and my side plate that i placed all my fried food was still quite clean after the meal.

This could just be the western version of claypot rice!

Paella is a rice dish from Valencia (one of the cities in Spain). For the seafood paella, it uses short grain rice simmered in broth from mussels, prawns and herbs. The result is a fragrant rice dish with the seafood (and chorizo - a form of pork sausage!) adding to its aroma.

Felt that this was a good paella (the kind that will make you go for seconds!) a tiny miss was that it did not have the crust that usually forms at the bottom of the pan that paellas usually have if it is cooked over high flame.

Wow. There are two options for the set lunch ($27 for 2, $32 for 3-course), of which one is this stupendously good steak. Of course, bochinche's known for the quality of their meats, and the cookery was so perfect over the flames right in front of you. With the right amount of sea salt flakes and the super light wedges on the side, I haven't had a steak this good at this price ever. It comes with a tasty chimichurri mayo on the side, which goes very well with everything, but is also not needed since the beef on its own makes your eyes roll back. If you're eating in a pair, please share this and the other main option, the Prawn & Scallop Open Lasagna that's excellent too. I'll be dreaming of this steak.

Kra Pow is found along Orchard Road. No. 1 popular Drunkard Noodle Pork did not disappoint. Squid Tentacles Fritters is a right snack companion. Mango Sticky Rice literally took me back to Thailand (my favorite). Tender Sliced Pork to fill the spot, and Red Ruby with smooth shaved ice in coconut milk to finish. For someone who hasn't been to Thailand for years, I'm a very happy camper!

I’m not an unagi person, yet the first bite really changed me. Despite of the usual soggy and slimy unagi, this one is crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. Good enough to make me go crazy head over heels for this bowl. (Ps: I like it more when I eat it with soup!)

Happy National Day Singapore! šŸ‡øšŸ‡¬ While everybody watches the fireworks, I shall indulge in my favorite Tendon bowl with the crispy and light tempura batter ā˜ŗļø

Made an impromptu visit for some casual, homey Italian grub. Food was served very quickly and generally pretty good!

We ordered:
- Porchetta (love it, crackling was crispy and the pork was tender with just enough fat)
- Fresh burrata with parma ham, tomatoes and arugula (love it, the burrata was so creamy)
- Stuffed Roman Schiaccata (love the truffle creamy goodness)
- Assorted pizza (ok but I would pass this next time)
- Mixed Ragout (beef and lamb) with homemade gnocchi (very saucy, loads of chunky tender meat, love it)
- Pistachio tiramisu (love this!)

Will I return?
Yes.

The price point is definitely friendly on the wallet. Great place to take the family or gather with a group of friends so that you can order more dishes to share.

Total bill of the above including 2 coffees:
$150 (we ordered small servings)

Price: $19.50. Authentic fish and chips from Smiths. The fish was fresh and did not have a single tinge of fishy smell. Unlike the fish and chips from some places where the fish itself would be mushy (and disgusting), the fish here is firm (but not hard). The batter was also crisp, not too thick, and wasn't oily at all! Really, it is actually quite hard to find decent fish and chips in Singapore these days.

The chips were also well made. Unlike most stall, especially chain stalls like MFM where the fries are factory made and usually quite horrible, the chips here are quite evidently home-made from potatoes they buy from the market. The chips were well made and they gave a really large portion too!

If you prefer melt-in-the-mouth type of fish, I would recommend the cod; if you prefer the type that's firmer in texture, then I'll recommend the haddock.
