Was intrigued by Lagoon in a Bowl at Amoy Street Food Centre because of its rice that has a pretty blue hue. Thought it was gimmicky but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food! You can either get salmon, steak or salmon + steak. Was expecting these to be dry but they were Uber tender! Also weโ€™re slightly under seasoned so that when paired with the Mentaiko sauce, it would not be too salty. Really appreciate the generous about of vegetables provided too for a well balanced dish!

Finally tried the much raved about Xiao Di Hokkien Mee! Weโ€™ve heard mixed reviews but our experience was really good. While the wok hei could be stronger, the prawn stock used to cook the noodles was ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป and the dish was packed with umami.

Our last meal before dine out was allowed (yes, this was quite some time ago) Went to Muji cafe and took away two of their sets. Prices arenโ€™t the cheapest but the food quality is ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป we wouldnโ€™t mind eating here again!!

I donโ€™t eat beef noodles very often but I think Hong Kee Beef Noodles may be my new favourite place. The uncle here has been cooking the dish for decades and has won multiple awards for it. You can opt for either the dry or soup version and I went for the dry, which features noodles doused in a thick, viscous gravy. You still get to enjoy a bowl of soup on the side and this was pack full of beefy herbal flavour. I also loved how the beef slices were super tender โ€” something that is hard to find these days!

Recently tried this new pasta spot at Chinatown Point called Tangled and they serve handmade pasta! For something that is handmade, the price point is really affordable, and you also get the option to customise your pasta or choose one of their pre-set options. They unfortunately donโ€™t seem to have a dine-in option yet so you can only do takeaway for now!

We donโ€™t head to the North often but when there, we thought it would be a good idea to get the legendary white bee Hoon from White Restaurant. It definitely lived up to the hype and was packed with plenty of ingredients! Also love how strong the wok hei was as well as how rich the noodle gravy was. We would queue for this!

Yakiniku places are all the range now and I finally tried out the one at Queenstown called Japanese BBQ Tora. For the price point, the quality of meats were fantastic and I can see why people love it so much. I also like how I can grill everything to my liking. Only issue is the small โ€” I smelled like bbq meat for the rest of the day.

Had Amoy Don from lunch the other day and got the cheesy cutlet don. I honestly wasnโ€™t expecting much but this was surprisingly good! Cutlet was really crispy and it really had cheese oozing out of it! Portion size was also pretty substantial for the price. Would recommend for whoever is in the CBD area cos need go back office liao.

Finally managed to try the fat macarons from Haengbok Cakeyo! These chunky bois are going for a box of 4 for $19.80 and while it does sound pretty pricey, itโ€™s actually super worth it because each macaron is damn thick! Can foresee myself eating this again ๐Ÿคค

Was hankering for a burger so I checked out Ryanโ€™s Kitchen at Great World City, the restaurant of gourmet supermarket Ryanโ€™s Grocer. I got the quintessential ozzy ($24) which comes with beetroot relish, fried egg, bacon, avocado and a thiccc beef patty. Burger was hella juicy and I liked the combo of all the ingredients, it somehow worked. Itโ€™s $24 for a burger and fries which is not the cheapest but for the quality itโ€™s all right!

Was feeling some good olโ€™ old school western food so I decided to try this stall called London Grill at Old Airport Food Centre. I got the pork chop and while this plate of food admittedly wasnโ€™t the best, it was super nostalgic! The pork itself was thin and a bit dry but the marinade was spot on. I also really loved the garlic bread ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป the veges were just frozen peas carrots and corn in cream sauce and tbh it didnโ€™t taste fantastic but it tasted like childhood and I really liked it??? Iโ€™d come back!

Damn good ayam penyet, fried and hammered freshly on the spot. Meat remained tender and succulent too. Will order again
