The delectably crisp and charred edge of each barbecued pork collar slice crunch pleasurably loudly with great gusto in your mouth, whilst elsewhere the slices' torsos possess the taut, lean tenderness of the ubiquitous Lucky Plaza midriff. 4.1/5

Small little shop. The food is passable, not too great. Ordered the beef rice bowl and shrimp rice bowl which came up to $30. Not too bad, but given it's inaccessibility and average food, probably won't return.

The bowl of rice was surprisingly small. Beef was ok, pepper sauce underneath was good. what was interesting was the ginger foam which gave this don an interesting flavour

As its colloquial name suggests, this Alexandra establishment is chock-full of local pride, and that shows in its food. The zi char inspired space is helmed by executive chef Nixon Low, previously from Portico, so despite the restaurant's cheeky branding, expect the kitchen team to be real serious about the food. The space is very near Mapletree Business City, which makes it a great lunch spot for Burpplers working in the area. Pop by for their rice or salad bowls โ€” the Signature Sesame Soy Sauce Chicken ($6.90) comes with wood ear mushrooms and pomegranate for crunch and flavour, the Nonya Assam Salmon ($8.90) comes slicked in a tangy and delicious gravy, and the Kimchi Chicken Salad ($7.90) keeps it light but tasty with soft-centered eggs and a soy sesame dressing. At dinner, the menu is filled with zi char style dishes like Har Cheong Chicken ($13) served roulade style and Ang Ji Kao Stout Braised Beef Cheek ($17), a spin on Guinness beef stew that comes served on a genius crunchy peanut butter mash. Take note that they close on weekends.
Avg Price: $10 for lunch, $25 for dinner

Trying new stall Huat Huat #02-080. Went to try out the highly rave Durian Mousse (double shot $6) from Dessert Bowl which recommended by bestie who often patronise the stall at Serangoon Garden (near myvillage and chomp chomp)
.
We had the creamy double shot D24 durian pulps serve with icey mousse together with Jackfruit Sago ($4.50). Indeed the durian pulp is good but mousse wise nothing special on it. #cuisineparadiseeatout #sgfood #dessert #burpple #durian #foodie #whatieat

Thought I'd check out another one of these grain bowl (or plate, rather) spots around town, especially one located in a food court with supposedly really reasonable prices. Quinoa wasn't hot nor properly seasoned, resulting in a base that was bland and disappointing to say the least. We tried the Western (Australian striploin) and Thai (Thai basil pork shoulder), and neither were particularly tasty nor well-executed โ€” beef was totally overcooked โ€” and the fermented veggies were all overly sour and one-dimensional. Would honestly rather pay double for a better bowl ๐Ÿ˜•

The star is, no doubt, the thick slab of salmon perfectly cooked, moist and flakey; but then there's also the garlic chips, torched mentaiko, generous furikake and tobiko toppings for the fun pop in your mouth. #burpple

Having Yong tau foo in a bar, within CBD area, infront of many many bottles of liquor? ๐Ÿ˜‚

I felt it was quite hip, where traditional food meets fusion concept. No matter if the end products tasted good or not, at least the idea attracts business.

Cheap and relatively decent Japanese food. Sashimi could be sliced thicker and perhaps not as fresh as I hope it would be, but at this price point you canโ€™t really complain.

From Scaled by Ah Hua Kelong, which is situated in the grounds of Bar Stories at Haji Lane โ€” Scaled by Ah Hua Kelong serves up small plates and large plates, while Bar Stories does what they do best; creating cocktails/mocktails after asking for your taste preferences.

Quite enjoyed this dish โ€” it comes with a choice of either mantou or pasta and we opted for the former (come on, who doesn't like these sweet, deep-fried buns that is always so ever ready to absorb the gravy it sits in). The curry is actually pretty decent โ€” yes, it lacks a bit of depth in terms of the spices used but the mussels and the spiciness made up for it; the mussels being fresh and plump without being too fishy while the curry carried quite a moderate level of spicy kick. The mantous were absolutely useful when it comes to mopping up the sauce clean; lightly crisp exterior and fluffy insides while carrying a tinge of sweetness and not being too greasy โ€” we even ordered a second portion of it (which was chargeable of course).
