Hmm.. this was a bit too sweet for my liking, mostly due to the caramelised layer at the top- but I did like the crunch of this though. Kudos to Sinpopo for being extremely generous with the shredded coconut stuffed between the layers. Got a bit jelat at the end... So I think for crepe cakes, I’d still stick to my favourite Lady M for quality-assured crepe cakes.

Interesting local flavour but tasted just alright. Wish there were more glutinous rice bits in the middle cream layer and the top fresh (coconut?) cream layer was a tad too thick for my liking.

Sinpopo at Funan mall is a really nice cafe to sit, chill and people watch at. And so I’ve found myself returning time and again 😌 The row of seats outside facing the crowds also remind me a lot of Paris!

Might say this is my fav white beehoon 🥰👍🏼 loads of ingredients, especially the fried egg, and the broth, full of WOKHEI! I definitely prefer this to Sembawang white beehoon as this is much more flavourful in my opinion (but do note that I prefer the soupy type la). MUST TRY!

Used entertainer 1f1 here and paid $17 nett for a really good brunch. I must say the eggs Benedict here is one of the better ones out there in the cafe scene - the poached eggs were perfectly golden and runny, the hollandaise sauce provided was just the right amount, the pulled pork (generously served in a whole heap) was juicy and sweet and to me, the star of the show!! - the croissant rolls that were so crispy, the flakes would fly as you sink your knife through.

A nice cafe with vintage decor and chill vibes 😌 waited around 30min for a seat on a weekend but noticed that the crowd subsequently cleared up around 1+ so maybe coming a bit late would be better

This cake was love at first sight 😍 if you like cedele’s carrot walnut cake, then this cake ain’t gonna disappoint! I enjoyed the dense sponge cake paired with the light and fragrant pistachio butter cream (just the right amount and not too sweet!) to make it sufficiently moist. The tart raspberry jelly layer provided a good contrast as well. And I mean, just look at that generous amount of roasted pistachios all on the top!!!

Undeniably, the price pretty steep for a slice of cake but rest assured, you get good quality ingredients and a lovely cafe experience in a vintage set up :) Pretty sure I’ll find myself craving for this cake from time to time...

Cooked ham, cheddar, egg, gruyere peppercorn sauce and mesclun salad with a toasted sea salt bagel. Although the ingredients sound simple, but the whole combination worked so, so well. I appreciated the gruyere sauce with cheddar which helped to keep everything moist. Also, worthy of mentioning is the bagel itself which was dense and chewy and I could really taste the sea salt. While slightly expensive given the ingredients, I really think I’ll be back here to get this again!!! It’s like a healthier, less sinful bagel compared to TMBH hehe. And the cafe itself is cozy and nice (came on a weekday afternoon!)

Had this as part of BB’s one for one deal and so worth it!!! Avo toast was nothing out of the ordinary, but I must say they were more generous with the avocados than usual in other cafes. The gashouse eggs, on the other hand, was a show stopper. It’s basically loads of cheese melted over a sourdough toast which encased a perfectly runny egg. Paired with the bacon jam on side, this was really a savoury explosion of flavours and perfect for the cheese lover in me! ☺️☺️ Second time back at this cafe for the BB deal and I’m definitely gonna be back again!!

Due to covid, tasting samples are no longer provided before purchasing and I must admit I was a bittt stressed about selecting the flavours HAHA - I mean how often do I come to jewel and birds of paradise?? But I had absolutely no regrets with the chocolate gianduja - it’s legit as good as the chocolate gelatos I had back in Italy, thick and creamy and just right sweetness for me. The spiced pear was a bit more underwhelming for me, maybe cos the intense flavour of the chocolate overpowered it. Yet, it was important to have something light to balance out the chocolate. I would recommend the chrysanthemum though!

Wish I could have this more often 😭😭 why do I live so far away

This tartine was more complex; it offers hummus, beetroot cubes, radish slices, half an avocado and pumpkin seeds over sourdough toast. Although the variety of ingredients kept each bite fresh and exciting as I had the freedom to mix and match different combinations, I felt that somehow all the ingredients were quite flat with no strong tasting element as the main stand-out piece to gel everything together. Might give this a miss and definitely go for the ricotta if you had to choose one thing to get here!

The idea of this was simple: a thick decadent layer of ricotta with blistered cherry tomatoes and baby spinach leaves atop a slice of sourdough. But somehow, this whole combination was executed so well!! The sourdough was undoubtedly good as it was chewy in the centre with a crunchy toasted crust. However, I was most impressed by the ricotta which was creamy smooth yet still light and not cloying. This is a MUST ORDER while you’re here! 👍🏼

Missed this the other time lady M launched it and had 10000 regrets - I’m a huge fan of all things pistachio!!!! So glad I managed to try this this time and as usual, lady M doesn’t disappoint. Just look at the layers from its side profile and imagine the pistachio cream oozing out as you sink your fork into it! But do note that this version I slightly heavier on the palate than usual.

A hole in the wall restaurant but this could really be the best kept secret for authentic Italian pizza! The burrata was fresh and light tasting, the parma ham was not too salty and the best part had to be the pizza crust - chewy at the edges with such a good bite but yet crispy thin in the middle. This may not be the cheapest pizza around but it has truly quality ingredients and I’ll definitely be back!!!
