Thai Pig Trotter Rice in the neighbourhood!
$5.20 per plate
Not the typical Chinese pig Trotter Rice, this Thai version is much lighter and the pork has no gaminess smell! Generous serving too!

Generous portion and super delicious!
Must order for Beef Short Ribs Rendang and Baba Jumbo Duroc Pork Satay!

Will definitely visit again for their food and dessert :)

tuck into these goodies - always craving good peanut ah balling recently and the ones at Dessert Station (01-41, Albert Hawker Centre) does these quite well. Soft chewy glutinous skin and lava flowy sweet peanut filling. The Balck Sesame and Peanut Paste was really comforting, though the Peanut could be stronger.

Trying out a random stall at Albert Food Centre named Traditional Wanton Noodle — this is the item to go for if you want to get the best of all worlds; each portion comes with two wantons, two dumplings and two fried wantons, all of them alongside char siew as well.

As far as it goes being something I just randomly went for, I must say I am quite satisfied — the noodle springy and tossed in a good amount of sauce for the savoury flavour that it gets laced in. Between the three, I liked the fried wantons the most; it's crisp and well-filled without being too greasy. The dumplings came a close second with ample meatiness within. The char siew was rather generic, though serviceable considering it's a stall that focuses more on their wanton mee than roast meats. Overall, quite a decent eat I wouldn't mind going for if in the area.

Grass Jelly & Honey Sea Coconut
Always nice to have an icy cold dessert that is milk free or not an ice cream 😬
💸: $1.80

Craving for Traditional dessert that's cheap and good. This stall is one of those I always return to.
Dish: Black Glutinous Rice

💸: $1.50
👅💭: 😊
Its not overly sweet and aunty was really generous with the coconut milk. The consistency was just right and the taste was yum.

Shop Name: Sakon Thai
Location: 152 Serangoon N
Food ordered: Mussels pot (Vegetable Nage, Small) - $20, Flank Steak - $28, 1 pint HoeGarden (1-for-1 half pint happy hour) - $10 (all not inclusive of gst yet)
Price: $69.50 total
Verdict: Nice ambience to chill out and lay back from the hustle. We chose this out of the rest based on online reviews which says its the best option for good food and money. The mussel pot comes with fries (not sure why this combination) and though the mussels are slighly overcooked, the fries is good (can ask for mayo and ketchup to go with). We had the steak medium rare and I have to say it is above average though it is slight pricey. The steak comes with sour cream mashed potato which was well made too.
Return?: Good place to hang out with friends away from town. But must come right after salary payout :P

Shop Name: L'clair by Sarah Michelle
Location: Singapore Shopping Centre Level 1
Food Ordered: High Tea set that comes with 2 drinks (time limit of 2hours)
Price: $60 nett
Verdict: Under impressed high tea dessert given the price and the much raved reviews. Each of the food unit lacks of its own strong flavours-you kinda forget what you ate before that. Prob the worth mentioned are the truffle egg sandwich and the ham pie(? In the middle of the last rack). Though the eclairs are abundantly filled with, still thought it lacks of some texture. The beverages need improvement too.
Return?: Unlikely. Though they justify for their increase in price due to increase in savoury items, dont think the set should command $60.

Shop Name: Sakon Thai
Location: 152 Serangoon North Avenue 1
Food Ordered: Salted egg fried rice, Mookata pork, Thai-style fried tofu, Red tom yum seafood soup, lime juice
Price: $33.60 total
Verdict: Fried rice- comes in big portion but taste average and a little too salty, cant really taste the salted egg too. Mookata pork- comes in big portion but it's relatively oily and dry. Tom yum soup - fresh prawns and fish slices, really spicy but I though it will be better with a little milk. Thai tofu- comes in big portion and taste authentic.
Return?: Gonna give it one more try for their fish dishes. (Seems like their key dish is fish but the tummy does not have enuff space for it to swim today)

Shop Name: Char Restaurant
Location: 363 Jalan Besar, Singapore 208994
Food Ordered: Double Roast(CharSiew&CrispyPorkBelly), 3eggs spinach
Price: $22, *cant rmb the price*
Verdict: Was there to try the roast meat - it was good but was quite expensive for the price. I was expecting to be jucier and the pork belly to be crackling crisp. The spinach could have been cooked longer for a softer texture.
Return?: Nope
