With history stretching back to 1945, this legendary stall was formerly at Hong Lim Food Centre, but relocated to the West in 2016 as the founder's 4th son took over the helm.
.
They're known for their Chinese Teochew pork dumplings, the slippery thin skin holding a juicy ball of minced pork with meaty sweet savoury flavour.
.
The gravy is intentionally strong, punchy with sour tangy salty spice flavour from the quality black vinegar, light soy sauce, and sambal chili paste.
.
The crunchy fried sole fish lends a fishy savoury salty contrast to the tender minced pork with sweet savoury flavour, and the succulent soy braised shiitake mushrooms with earthy salty vegetal flavour.
.
The soup is clear but rather light on taste. Not many come close to this BCM standard in the West, so expect queues of up to 30 minutes during peak periods as each bowl is prepared from scratch.

Long waiting times, this stall is one of the few Bak Chor Mee where you still get Tee Por (Fried Sole Fish) in both the noodles and inside the dumplings.

Oddly, theirs taste very much like the famous Tai Wah Pork Noodles except this stall gives you loads of Tee Por.

For those who like their noodles extra spicy and sour, hold off on the order for extra vinegar. Their vinegar is extremely sour as it is. So take it easy on the vinegar in case it drowns the flavour in the noodles.

Because I da bao the noodles home, they were a bit soggy. This means I must return to the stall for a dine in tasting. I’ll be back.

Noodles were springy and complemented well with the sauce. Ingredients were generous in its thick cut braised mushrooms, handful of minced meat and noodles stand up with its fragrant fried sole fish.

I got excited when I saw dried sole fish but sadly, I don't taste it in the soup base. However, this is still a comfort bowl of minced pork mee for this kind of weather.

Now handed down to the second generation as the father passed away. It was a pity since i haven’t tried the father’s cooking before. There is still a queue now that the son took over, however, i heard in the heydays when the father was around, the queue was easily doubled. For this, I’ve requested for extra chilli and pork lard but still find this bowl of bcm somehow lacking of flavours. Not enough of that spicy and vinegar kick which made a bcm shiok.

Legit tears of joy rolled down my face and I had to be held back from hopping around excitedly too much - kidding. Taste wise as compared to hong lim’s, really similar! Brothers indeed, but bukit gombak’s ver was a bit drier, and could do with more mushroom sauce and chilli. $4/$5/$6 versions available!
