A special concoction at Brizo where there is a mix of lychee, strawberry and soda. Quenches the thirst whenever the food gets a bit heavy.

Much of the mains at Brizo is seafood based so expect dishes such as Cereal Prawn, Salted Egg Crayfish, Chili Crab, Baked Sambal Chili Red Snapper, Sotong in Gan Heong sauce and more. Top favourites at our table include Chili Crab, Salted Egg Crayfish and Cereal Prawn. If you are one who ain't into crustaceans like me, grab some cereal from the cereal prawn to go with the Nasi Goreng Kampung Style which goes surprisingly well and instantly converts it into Cereal Fried Rice. Also, drench the fried mantou in salted egg sauce and chili crab sauce; the sweet and crisp fried mantou which wasn't too oily gets really flavourful in the gravy. Out of the lot, the Baked Sambal Chili Red Snapper, Chicken/Beef/Lamb Satay was particularly dry as they were displayed under strong lighting for some time, and the fried selection though safe wasn't particularly impressive (only the Ngoh Hiang seemed to be a notch above the rest).

The only live station at this buffet. Yellow Mee in Curry gravy served with prawns, crab meat, fish cake and beansprouts. Curry gravy seemed a tad similar to laksa, and seemed to be easily confused as laksa amongst the table.

Skip the mediocre cakes for dessert and go straight for the Durian Pengat for dessert; love the pungent mousse that carries lots of fibres so you could tell its got loads of the real deal. Another favourite for me here would be the Yam Paste with Gingko Nuts which was pretty good (that I did not take a photo), with the only gripe being the Gingko Nuts being too bitter.

The O List

Price Range: $69-$80

O for: Okay

What is popular here?
Taste Of Singapura Buffet [$58.00++]
Those who have heard of Brizo know of their annual 'Crazier For Crabs' buffet, and it shows in their Chilli Crab dish, which is above average.

Their other more ordinary offerings, ranging from crustaceans, satay & curry noodles, are able to satiate without ever exceeding expectations of its $69 pricetag.

The unappetizing desserts meanwhile feel like placeholders; akin to a host nation immediately qualifying for sports events, simply present to round off the buffet selection.

What should I try instead?
The only sweet treat which warranted a second helping was a passable Durian Pengat, which shone in a sea of dessert mediocrity.
Also help yourself to the Salted Egg Crayfish, which was amply tender & drizzled in yolk.

This was a media tasting session, courtesy of Brizo.

Fresh seafood with fresh cream (most of the time it wouldn't go wrong)

Chili crab, Black Pepper Crab and chilled crab. Added a hint of green made the table seem more complete. .

I must say not all the crab were fresh. There was a hint of ammonium, esp the black pepper ones.

All the way from chilled crab to fried crab, all you can eat. The chilled seafood was under seasoned but the prawn was outstandingly good! Firm and chilled with a hint of the savory sweet.

My favourite of the night – the gravy here plays like a cross between assam fish head and prata curry, and the crab thoroughly soaks up the spicy curry fabulousness with gusto, wearing its honorary sari and bindi with swag.

Delivered exactly what was promised on the label – nothing more, nothing less. Indistinguishable from any of the other notable crab places, which isn’t a bad thing at all for a buffet crab. The mantous deserve social influencer contracts for being absolutely motivational and engaging. 3.8/5 (aggregate score)

Summary: The buffet experience is comparable to an attractive young girl trying on different types of makeup from Mummy’s dresser. Her inherent beauty means no amount of bad or improperly applied lipstick or mascara can actually make her look as foul as an unshowered gap-toothed zebra, but different makeup does produce varying levels of attractiveness. 3.8/5 (aggregate score).

Having a crab dish at most seafood restaurants can be ruinously pricey, as the crabs are usually charged by its size and weight. So if you are a crustacean fan, you probably love the idea of a crab buffet with over 22 crab dishes and seafood.

Starting from 1st to 12th April, you can enjoy 20% off the crab buffet simply by quoting my promo code ‘(Alainlicious) earlybird 20% off’ along with your contact details when you call Brizo at 6593 8855 for reservations. Full details is updated on the blog, link on my profile.

At the dinner preview of Brizo Restaurant & Bar at Park Hotel Clarke Quay, where they go crazier with their crabs buffet on its second run.

I see a fantastic array of 22 types of crab dishes, 26 kinds of seafood and a new ‘Crab in a Pan’ dish, which will all be available from 1 April to 28 June 2015. Crustacean lovers will rejoice!
