More Reviews of good food at Chimichanga (Little India)

Ordered the fish taco ($14) and beef nachos ($16). Initially I had low expectation for the taco as I assumed they will be using cheap dory fish. But I was wrong. They used some IPA battered white fish which is delicious. The Nacho is very generous with the sauces and topping. The ratio of chips and topping is just nice. Will be going to their Holland Village outlet and try.

Go ahead and try chimichangas if you’ve never tried before. It’s like burrito, except that it’s fried. It’s good to add some habanero hot sauce to this dish for extra flavour if you like spicy food.

Served with shaved ice and very refreshing! Their cocktails and in particular mojitos and margaritas are extremely popular. Almost everyone orders it. I actually can't remember what this one was so I'm saving it here for future reference when I want to order it again.

It doesn't look like much whole when it is served so here's a photo of it cut in half. This is $16 and was my first time trying chimichanga. I ordered it as I was curious, especially since the eatery is named after this dish.

The chimichanga was smaller than I thought and felt like it wouldn't be a filling main course meal, and I was right. The dish is overall quite messy to eat as it was hard to cut up, and everything was falling over so not a good first-date dish for sure. The wrap was well-fried and crispy but the contents altogether lacked layers and felt mushy and not that satisfying. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be! But I personally wouldn't order this one again as I'd much rather have their Ancho Beef Nachos any day!

They are a small eatery with few tables, so be sure to book online before making your way down. If you are driving, go early as parking in Little India is usually a nightmare. Service is inconsistent as some staff can be rude but some polite. Food is generally quite good, and their cocktails, specifically margaritas/ mojitos, are super refreshing and a must-order.

We had fish tacos, chicken quesadilla and pulled beef nachos. They are all good in their own way but also could be better, and I don't see them becoming my staple Mexican fare for that reason, as well as the inaccessibility of the location but I would crave their food once in awhile! I think they have a very unique way of preparing the same Mexican dishes you can have elsewhere, which is what makes me come back.

Borracho Fish Tacos ($14): I love the fish. It is super just-out-the-wok crispy, yet light and almost melt-in-your-mouth at the same time. If I could describe fried food as fresh, this would be it. The tangy dressing drizzled also complements it perfectly. My only issue with this dish is the soggy soft shell tacos. It does this dish so much injustice and would be FAR better in hard shell tacos but you don't get a choice here.

Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla ($14): Their Quesadilla is pretty good; crispy and tasty enough. But I recommend eating it as a sharing dish as this does get boring quickly as a main course, perhaps due to lack of texture and sharp flavors. The good thing however is that it is consistent!

Loaded Nachos with Ancho Beef ($16): Generous with the beef servings. And their pulled beef is good and satisfying to eat with nachos. Just feel like this dish could be even better if the nachos used were thicker and not as crisp-like. But it's still not too bad! I do enjoy this one overall.

We did finish off with Golden Churros ($8) which was nothing to shout about. I wish I didn't order it as it made my dinner a little worse, so skip this one.

📍Chimichanga, Little India

🐄🌯 Ancho Beef Chimichanga ($18++)
A deep fried wheat tortilla wrap over amarillo rice and cheese. Topped with salsa verde, crema and poco de gallo! the beef was really tasty but the other aspects of the dish were pretty average. would recommend trying other options instead!

overall, i will definitely be back for their tacos! 🤤♥️ i heard their quesadillas are really good so will be back to try those! 👍🏼

🐟🌮 Boraccho Fish Taco Trio ($16++)
Definitely the standout dish! The fish was cooked perfectly and maintained its crispy exterior despite taking it away! Would highly recommend ordering this! 😍

Happen to see this place open during daytime now so you could enjoy a peaceful ambience as there’s lesser people here during lunch time.

The boraccho fish bowl featuring the golden paprika and beer-battered fish which was very soft, and pair perfectly with the amarillo rice together with pico de gallo and greens.

$14 | This is a very safe choice if it’s your first time trying Mexican food - but I 10/10 recommend trying their tacos!!!

Slightly pricey at $2 per piece but I find this really nice! You can choose what accompany sauce but I’d recommend the chocolate!

Dry & overfried. This wasn’t great so I wouldn’t recommend you ordering it.

$12 | A chimichanga is essentially a DEEP FRIED BURRITO - my first time eating this. The chicken and rice were well-seasoned - one of the best I’ve tried!

Come to Chimichanga eat a chimichanga! It’s a neat little parcel of shredded meat, well-flavoured. However, size does matter and the package could have been a tad longer 🤭. The ancho seasoning wasn’t too overpowering. If only they had a chicken chimichanga too! Loved the ambience and energy of the place! The crew is attentive and the crowd is cool. We came here late-r on a Friday night (9pm) and it was still crowded. Reserve days early to avoid the guaranteed wait!

I love the crunch of the churros but the chocolate is too sweet for me but my girlfriend thinks it’s prefect so each to it’s own...

We love the Jell-O shots and we say don’t trust blue drinks after the blue shots!!

Had a sharing platter for 2, which comes with buffalo wings, quesadillas, tacos and nachos. Love the vibe and service. Will be back for affordable Mexican food!

got the ancho beef quesadilla and chimichanga and both were pretty tasty! tortilla chips with guac was just okay. prices are really affordable and it’s a nice place to soak in the vibes if it’s not too crowded! place is small so make a reservation before heading down

This was good. Sriracha Mayo wasn’t spicy. Fish was nicely battered and deep fried and taco skin was pretty thin

Chimichanga? Or chimi-chuckitinthebin? Chimichanga has been around for a while, and after devouring their Salt Pork Tinga chimichanga ($12 NETT, yeah bwoi), I can see why they’ve managed to keep the fiesta going.

So, a chimichanga is basically a burrito that’s been MURICA’d. Or in layman terms, it’s been deep fried. Of course deep frying makes everything better, and in Chimichanga’s case, it made a decent burrito even better. The thin tortilla that encased the filling turned into a charmingly crispy, glorious golden carb cocoon of deliciousness, and the ambrosial amarillo rice inside was just so satisfying to the soul.

I was surprised by just how mildly flavoured the salt pork tinga was, especially since I expected it to be a full on intense flavour fiesta. The friendly guy serving me (might’ve been the owner or manager, I didn’t think to ask) explained that they did try the very traditional, straight outta Cholula recipe, but Singaporeans simply weren’t ready for the mind blowing savouriness. Still, the pork was tender and juicy, and all it really needed was some of the hot sauce sitting on the table to make tinga great again.

For only twelve bucks, this was quite the steal. It’s a little small, but it’s a perfect stomach filler when chased down by a majestic mojito, or a frozen margarita. Don’t be that foo who sleep on this bad boy, ese.

Featuring the Marshmallow and Nutella Chimichanga ($8) from Chimichanga which comes with gooey chewy marshmallows and sweet nutella wrapped in a soft toasted flour tortilla. To finish, a scoop of vanilla ice cream 🍦 is placed atop the chimichanga which is then generously drizzled with chocolate sauce 🍫 .

Slice into this sweet chimichanga and you'll reveal a gooey marshmallow mess that's all ready for the digging! Ready, set, spoon! 🤤
