Matcha Black Sesame Cake (RM 12)

My sister told me that it's not bad but I felt that the cake was really moist enough and not that dry. It was slightly sweet and bitter on the top layer of the cake. I tasted a hint of black sesame throughout the cake. The chocolate (middle) was quite bitter and not that sweet and cannot be overtaken by another layer such as matcha (top) & original (bottom).

Very nice!!! Didn't think I would like their cake so much. But it's v tasty

Don't go for it unless you have an acquired tastebud like me. This combination taste bitter, a little salty and citrusy at the same time. Its like drinking some weird tonic.

Homemade hummus, feta, baba ghanoush, black olive, cherry tomato, pea sprouts, mixed beans and salad.
A simple salad filled with generous amount of ingredients. So clean eating lor. Highly nutritional too. Hummus was nice, creamy and umami. Mixed bean was mashy and crunchy.

THE BEST avo toast ever?? 👍🏼 The sourdough toast was spread with mashed avocado then topped with a few leaves of baby spinach and rocket, sliced half avocado, generous slices of thickkk smoked salmon and a perfectly poached egg! Finally, the pine nuts and pomegranate added a sweet crunch. There were so many layers and textures in this dish that I got to play around with various combinations and never got sick of it! Bonus point is that the dish is really clean and healthy too.

Note that you can’t use entertainer 1F1 on the superfood specials menu. But really, at SGD8, this is already much cheaper and much nicer than many other cafes that we have.

YUM. This dish features JUICY mushrooms, meatballs, and crispy thinly-sliced bread on the side, all lying on top of a bed of smooth hummus.

Basically, a very delicious sushi burger! Fresh salmon sashimi slices, crab sticks, avocado, edamame and soft boiled eggs jammed between rice “buns”.

Missing JB a lot so shall throw a throwback post, Hope this place is still open even after covid! Not sure why but every time we are there, it’s either closed or too crowded. We can easily see why though! The place is absolutely enchanting and doesn’t make you feel like you’re in JB at all. The food is pretty damn good too. Highly recommend the Japanese Seafood Brunch which features salmon sashimi, crabmeat sticks, grilled sushi rice, edamame, roasted seaweed, salmon roe and a soft boiled egg. Very wholesome and filling; it lasted us the whole day!
.

Got the same item as last time because they give so much variety in one plate! Fried okra, grilled broccoli and zucchini, edamame, chickpeas & beans, feta, cranberries & pomegranate, pesto hummus and toast; close to bursting by the time I finished it.

Back at Flowers in the Window because (1) it’s not too crowded (we came at 10 plus) and (2) the food is great and so are the prices. Their brunch items are pretty healthy and comes in really big portions so we were really stuffed. Order to share if you can!

Very refreshing drinks that is suitable in the hot weather. The drinks is serve with watermelon ice cube which prevent it from getting diluted even after your meal.
The slight taste of mint matches well with the watermelon! 🍉

Needless to say, the cake was very visually pleasing, and it tastes as good as it looks! The layer of cream cheese was light, and the cake itself was delectable. It makes a very nice post-lunch dessert :-)

Seriously love the prices in JB cafes, and how well they deliver the quality of the food as well. Baked eggs came with pesto and mushrooms, with buttered toast on the side.

Really enjoyed their latte, which had this deep toasty taste to it.

Saw that this cafe just opened (at 10am) so we abandoned the long queue over at The Replacement Lodge. It’s a different kind of cafe aesthetic, with a more laidback nature vibe, and serves healthy-ish brunch items. They had quite a few hummus dishes so we were torn over which to choose, but decided to go for this. Once we got over how green the dish was (ahh too much health) it was actually really good, loved the green hummus too.

Latte was a bit weak and slightly watered down.

It was a bit dry. Earl grey and lavender flavour not prominent.

A garden themed cafe. The Purple Carrot (RM16) was moist and filled with walnuts.

Can’t quite remember the exact name for this dish- could only remember how nicely the fusion blend is. Avocado, tobiko, smoked salmon, onsen egg and some flower petals!

Love the variety of food at this cafe. Its rustic decor with plants was beautifully enchanting. Everything was instagram worthy.
