Since 1971, with over 50 years experience hand making and steaming their own carrot cake, it's little wonder they attract queues.
.
The carrot cake is moist and delicious with a soft chew, well executed. Has a generous portion of eggs and chye poh / preserved radish.
.
The black version is smoky sweet savoury eggy spice in taste. I prefer the white version, with its savoury sweet eggy spice notes, and tiny crispy bits.

Wah better than our previous visit. Apart from their famous delicious prawns, how do they achieve carrot cake that's crispy on the outside yet mushy on the inside?

Yuan Yang to get the best of both worlds! Can understand why the long queues.

Moist, eggy and slightly charred which really brought out this oyster omelette dish. The oysters were plump, really fresh and soft. Thoroughly enjoyed this plate of goodness from the stall

This is one of the more popular stalls at Newton Food Centre and the carrot cake here sure did not disappoint.

The carrot cake was fried to the point of crispy yummy, making each bite a delight. An overall dish i would definitely order again.

Glad that I finally found time to revisit this famous carrot cake stall at Newton circus.

It’s one of those places that I have a love hate relationship with. Prices are slightly steeper but the ambience is fantastic . It is one of those places that you should visit after 9 because this is when the party πŸŽ‰ begins πŸ˜€

This homemade carrot was moist , flavourful with a good bite and although this was not the crisp kind of carrot cake , it was equally enjoyable because it was so old school.

Well seasoned , not too oily and accompanied with a fantastic chilli sauce ( we asked for 2 types of chilli , one supposedly for the oyster omelette ), this was one of the highlights of the evening .
