More Reviews of good food at Hyang To Gol Korean Restaurant (Raffles City)

Korean food is my comfort food!

Was recommended by a friend to check out this place: Hyang-to-gol Korean Restaurant at Raffles City basement!

Food items we got:
-Marinated BBQ Pork Set ($15.50++)
-Skewer Fishcake Odeng Soup ($14++)
-Soybean Paste Stew with Seafood ($18.50++)
-Seafood Pancake ($20++)

The food were all served piping hot! The seafood pancake had clams and prawns in it! Was pleasantly surprised by the presence of clams, as typically korean restaurant use prawns with squid insted? The soybean paste stew was actually quite spicy, though it was not mentioned in the description that it will be spicy (there is another soup option that is spicy beancurd soup with seafood for $18++). BBQ meat portions were huge, however I would have preferred if they have spicy bbq pork option too!

One of the only Korean restaurants that I know of in City Hall (the other being Ahjumma’s at Funan), so this place is frequented whenever my friends and I are in the vicinity and have cravings for Korean. This was a very hearty and comforting bowl of spicy seafood soup, the amount of ingredients were reasonable with a generous serving of tofu. The standard here was pretty good until it dropped during the period of COVID restrictions though it seems to have come back up again. Side dishes were alright, I’ve had better!

The bulgogi beef was tasty and the sides kimchi and other dishes went well with rice. The side servings was a little small. The staff service was great and provided with more sauce for the beef bulgogi and provided many assistance.

Got the 2 person set at 58++, that comes with a stew, a BBQ hotplate and an appetiser (which I got the seafood pancake). The amount of food is definitely alot, and more than enough for 2 person. We got the kimchi stew which was good, and the seafood pancake, although thicker than usual, is still crispy on its sides. What stole the show was the marinated pork belly, as it was so darn flavourful and tender. Paired with the lettuce wrap, kimchi and ssamjang, it was really satisfying. In fact one of the best BBQ meats I've had!

Super hearty and delicious Korean food in the heart of the city. Relatively affordable and yummy! Great lunch sets too.

The Bibimbap was nice and filling. The side dishes were delicious and we asked for multiple refills of the Anchovies and kimchi until one lady told us only one refill per set which was quite surprising to me as the norm in Korean restaurants is free flow banchan. Had to pay $1 for barley tea as well. Set lunches available daily at $12.90++.

Refreshing chilled drinks to go with the savoury food.
Sweet rice: Sikhye.
Lime juice in mini jug.

Served pretty good food and prices that don't burst the pockets. Double points from me as they allowed me to changed my beanpaste stew from seafood to all prawns. Only downside is that refilling of banchan is $1.

This was really delicious, the beef was marinated well, sweet and tender. The set came with side dishes and soup.

Great Location. After having a meal, still can go shopping. The outlet is attractive and comforting. We especially enjoyed the Ginseng Chicken Soup. The portion is very generous. The soup was flavourful and the chicken was moist and tender.
We tried the following:
- GINSENG CHICKEN SOUP SAMGE TANG ~ S$24
- SPICY PORK LUNCH SET ~ S$12.90

This BBQ chicken had no oil or gravy at all. It looked dry and unappetizing. But the taste was alright. I felt healthy eating this. The ban chan dishes were also the healthy type, not oily at all. I think they were not refillable, cos menu stated that they were $1 per portion. This place was quite different from other Korean restaurants I have been to.

This kimchi stew was the sour type. And quite spicy. Good for stimulating the appetite.

You'll love this if you are a carbo person 😜 But, I was not thrilled by the kimchi. It was sour 😕 I wonder if all kimchi will taste sour when fried 🤔

I know a Korean acquaintance who has been living in Singapore for a decade and claims that the only Korean restaurant his family frequents when they dine out is Hyangtogol at Amara. Indeed I'd attest to the authenticity of the elaborate Korean fare at the Amara branch, so i was excited to find another flagship branch here at Raffles City.
As the steaming hot aroma of the kimchi jjigae wafted pass me I was certain it would turn out great; I was not wrong- this has got to be the most appetising and tasty kimchi stews around in Singapore. The tangy stew will be a crowd pleaser especially among the ladies as its kimchi is higher on the acidity scale compared to the milder kimchi side dish. On to the 5 side dishes (with every meal set ordered)- these are not the banal ones you find in other Korean restaurants, I had the rare anchovy and a never seen before Korean seaweed salad ban Chan.
These were part of the 2 pax set meal at 44$++ which also included our chosen- filling seafood Jeon and stir fried squid .
So Glad the more casual flagship branch is as good as the original branch 🙃

Waited more than 10 minutes for this dessert but it was a disappointment 😐 First impression was greatly discounted when this miserable pancake was served. First feel of the pancake was further discounted when it was so tough & hard to cut & slice it. First taste was terribly disappointed when the only flavour or taste was super sugary sweet. Very very sad to have this dessert ☹️ #burpple
