Was looking for some good lunch fare and we chanced upon this popular izakaya!
Ikki Izakaya offers a variety of lunch sets and I got the tempura set ($15.90) which came with a variety of dishes. The number of tempura pieces isn't many, but at least the ingredients were fresh and quite well fried. The tempura batter was light and does not feel too oily. I liked the salad and fruits given, as they were refreshing and helped to ease the oiliness of the tempura pieces.
A choice to consider if you work nearby. Definitely wished that they gave more tempura pieces though!
Huge serving of yakiniku beef and chargrilled steak on don at a very reasonable price of $12 and $15 respectively. A pity they didnt serve onsen eggs on those beef bowls. Wish they could go just a little more for perfection. Was surprised by their salmon sashimi that is both fatty and fresh along with skewers and chargrilled omelette. Good music and ambience for dinners.

Bara Chirashi ($14)
Decent quality for the price, and actually quite filling as it comes with a rather large portion of rice, as well as miso soup. Sure, it won't be as fresh as many other sushi bars, but for this price, you really can't expect more. Quality should be on par with the likes of Teppei, albeit with a smaller serving of fish. Would definitely come back here if I need a quick Chirashi fix that would not hurt the wallet at all! Service was really efficient too.
Decent portion of chicken chunks covered in runny semi-cooked eggy goodness over don. ($11) The rice had some kind of soy-teriyaki sauce so it's not too dry (hate having to eat plain rice). Yummy food, drinks and good company to celebrate mid-week. (Weekends are nearing 💪🏻😍)
Fish was not fresh today. Also. The lunch set has a better rice to fish ratio than the regular rice bowl...
Wanted a place to eat while everyone was crowding the nearby restaurants due to the heavy rain. Finally ventured to the other side of macs and found seats in a reasonably busy izakaya. Both the udon and chirashi were smaller sizes so they were great for the set! Chirashi was fresh and tasty. Udon could use more flavor though.. Great value set for lunch!
Enjoyed the combination of cream cheese, mentai mayo and Aburi salmon!!
Had the udon and chirashi lunch set, was pretty good value but not spectacular
Nicely seared beef slices and fragrant crispy garlic on a bowl of garden salad and cherry tomatoes with a light, tangy ponzu dressing. This is one of my favorite dishes at IKKI, even though I'm not a big salad person!
For $16, you get a decent bowl of rice topped with slices of fresh salmon sashimi and a spoonful of ikura. Nothing much to complain, but their appetizers stand out much more than their dons and noodles.
Don't know why I've been having such insatiable cravings for sushi lately. Especially after gyming, I find myself longing for the cool touch of a buttery slice of salmon belly against my tongue and the soft, buoyant bite of vinegar-tinged Japanese rice between my teeth.
But no sushi for me tonight, so I can only make do with the delicious memory of this maki roll comprising cream cheese and avocado tightly encircled by rice, seaweed, and thin blankets of salmon belly. The thought of that spicy mentaiko mayo dressing is making my mouth water!
Chalk up $60 on a single receipt to be entitled to a complimentary dessert – pretty good value, considering you get not just one but FOUR mini Japanese cheesecakes if you opt for this (over alternatives like Hokkaido milk pudding). Nom nom, I love Snaffles! Their cakes are so soft and moist and melt-in-the-mouth!
Quite pleased to find a Japanese eatery near my place that opens till late, and even more so that it serves up a good variety of nosh, including yakitori, sushi, donburi, udon, and even waffles.
While I enjoyed the Ikki Maki and Chicken Breast with Spicy Cod Roe, I generally wouldn't praise the food here to the skies. Go with no expectations. Or maybe just go queue at Koh Grill (Wisma Atria) unless you're in the Buona Vista district and can't be half-arsed to travel to town.
Ikki reminds me a lot of Japan and the many izakaya that I've frequented. They have a wide range of dishes for their dinner menu incl. yakitori, sashimi, sushi, donburi and udon. They also have a live singing and opens till late night, perfect for after work drinks. The tempura is good though the udon is a little too soft for my liking, I prefer udon that is more chewy. I've also tried their lunch sets and food is pretty decent too.
Enjoy your food as a live band plays in the background. Nice place to chill out
after work if you work around the bouno vista area.
😍☺️
