A place we will revisit - the mains menu looked super appealing and we loved both dishes, but somehow the Salmon Mentai Pasta portion was so little it’s such a pity! Nonetheless worth it with Burpple Beyond :)

I had Spicy Salmon Bowl and swapped sushi rice for spicy shirataki noodles. Yummy! But cannot find more than 5 ikura..haha my friend ate Salmon Mentai Bowl.. found it too watery but overall, it was Good! Being 1 for 1!

Oddly enough, despite Le Coq being an unabashed & proud purveyor of meaty cocks, the skewer that impressed us the most was their wagyu beef one ($6.80++ a stick).

Despite being seasoned with nothing but sea salt, pepper and basted with butter, these beef sticks were absolutely ambrosial. The meat was fantastically fatty, juicy and tremendously tender. The smokiness from the charcoal was pleasantly perfumed each bite, and scintillatingly savoury. Every single bite was a brilliantly beefy bite, and it’s all over far, far too soon.

I’m, for one, am eternally glad that Le Coq seriously beefed up their menu with these stellar skewers of wagyu beef.

While I found the truffle oil that had been liberally drizzled onto the cold somen quite overwhelming, there was no denying that this Cold Truffle Somen with Scallop Sashimi & Caviar ($16++) was exquisitely enjoyable. Especially after a meal stuffed full of mouthwatering meat in the form of Le Coq’s titillating yakitori.

The noodles were delightfully springy & bouncy, and were jus the right side of al dente. As for the sashimi scallops...oh man. The stellar scallop sashimi was stupendously sweet and sensually supple, a fine accompaniment to the noodles. The caviar was dotted around amongst the somen, and each provided a scintillatingly savoury pop when bitten into. Absolutely addictive, believe me.

Eating this plate of somen on a screaming hot day? Oh man.

Came here a couple times for their truffle yakiniku with foie gras - have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised that their quality was pretty consistent! The yakiniku was cooked to the perfect doneness, paired with a sinful piece of foie gras. 😋

Both dishes were good and portions generous. We had the truffle beef bowl and the mentaiko salmon don.
