Havenāt had burnt cheesecakes in a long time! Finally trying out this super raved version from Paparch Singapore. Itās no doubt one of the best ones weāve had thus far (other tops are from Olivia, Chalong and Burnt Bakes), but also one of the hardest cakes to get š
Loved the cake! It wasnāt overly burnt nor too eggy, and had a great balance of savory, sweet and a light caramelisation. Best part was how cheesy it was, plus its super molten and creamy core that oozed right out of the fridge. Iām on the fence of whether itās worth 60 bucks, and considering the luck you need to score one š But that aside, I would definitely have this again and again.
Not just your usual burnt cheesecake, this one from Burnt Bakes is vanilla & thyme infused (and 1.2kg for 7ā)! Honestly, it took some getting used to at first with the suuuper distinct thyme notes, but after that we really enjoyed the refreshing change. Itās not as burnt, but they definitely aced the texture - itās this creamy, molten and oozy right out of the fridge! Thereās only vanilla & thyme on the menu now, but think theyāre coming up with new flavours soon. Order details all up on @burntbakessg.
Tried Swee Hengās version this time round! Theirs is much more cheesy than garlicky. It leans a lot more to the sweet side, while I prefer the more savoury sort. The garlic was too light to satisfy garlic bread cravings too, though theyāre pretty generous with the cream cheese. Bread was crunchy after a quick toast in the oven but unfortunately a tad bit dry.
Havenāt had a cafe brunch in a long time! Lovely space here at Five Oars and we really enjoyed their food. This hearty Mentaiko Mac & Cheese is listed as a side on the menu, but works nicely as a main too. Mac was al dente and what we liked best was the cheeseās richness + the lightly charred layer of mentaiko sauce on top. They added in small chunks of prawns and roe as well which gave extra texture. Saw pictures of this mac as a main in the past and those look even better! Hope theyāll reintroduce that option in future.
A really good and decadent slice from Wildfire! Very well balanced in both its sweetness and savouriness, leaning slightly more to the latter, with this extra hint of umami. Out of the fridge a bit and you get a pretty oozy centre.
At $6, itās probably one of the most affordable ones around. You can also purchase the whole at $48.
I know it doesnāt look the most satisfying without a browned top, but this cheese tart had a very satisfying balance of savoury cheesiness and sweetness. Even better after warming it up in the oven!
Finally got to try Bakery Breraās rendition of the trending burnt cheesecake. Loved the oozy molten centre, and its creaminess with a rich use of cheese! While it was still a nice slice with good texture, we found it too sweet especially with the caramelised glaze on top.
Really enjoyed this Mac & Cheese and we think itās one of the best ones weāve had thus far! Though no meats, it came with forest mushrooms, truffle oil, crunchy breadcrumbs and very generous amounts of cheese. It was seasoned well, not overwhelmingly salty, but sufficiently cheesy. It didnāt get too heavy too, so it was actually ok for one to wipe clean!
Didnāt try their first launched version, but theyāve since reduced the cheesecakeās sweetness based on feedback received - Iām really glad they did!
The cheesiness and sweetness here were nicely balanced. It may seem heavy, but it was surprisingly light, smooth and creamy. Iāve only tried one other burnt cheesecake which was from Olivia Restaurant and Lounge just few doors down, but theyāre both very different so itās hard to compare. Iād still get this again! Other than the original, you can also find Matcha Burnt Cheesecake ($8) up on their menu.
Maccheroni pasta baked with bacon chunks and cheese! The creamy sauce was quite light and actually wasnāt as cheesy as we expected it to be, except for the slightly crusty cheese top. Was hoping for a stronger truffle flavour, but it was pretty decent as a whole, especially with the thick chunky bacon pieces. It gets a little heavy after a while though, so share the calories! š Orioleās available on Burpple Beyond - be sure to check with the servers for the items applicable for 1 for 1 upon ordering.
Have been eyeing this for a looooong time and we finally came by. Was a little sad that our slice wasnāt as brunt or as oozy as others weāve seen, but we still absolutely loved the creamy blend of cheeses used here - especially the distinct touch of blue cheese! It was so creamy but surprisingly well balanced. Would have liked the tart shell to be less thick, but Iāll definitely be back. Hopefully, our next slice will have a better caramelized top with a more melty cheese centre.
Chanced upon Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory while we were exploring the maaaaaany food options in the brand new Jewel Changi Airport. Alongside the launch of Jewel Changi Airport, itās also the first day launch of their new Milk Pie - a choux and pie dough combination filled with mascarpone and cheese. Not too bad, it was surprisingly light and leaned more towards being a sweet dessert. You can also get a box of 5 at $18!
