Almost missed it but we were FINALLY early enough to get a portion of fish eggs! Don’t think my love for First Street Teochew Fish Soup is going to die any time soon - the snaking queue may throw people off but it’s so worth it. You’ll always get a full bowl of tender fish slices along with that shiok savoury broth! Though not exceptional, the fish eggs were fresh and was a nice addition to have.

Haven’t had this in a while and I’m reminded again why I love it so much + why I am willing to wait in the heat for it HAHAHA. Just the most affordable option of batang fish is already impressive! The generous fresh slices are always thick and chunky yet tender with a good bite. Please make sure you top up for the minced meat because it adds that extra oomph to the comforting clear broth! Also, I personally prefer to opt out of the fried onions to retain its original flavours. If you want to try something different, they also have pomfret and red garoupa to choose from.

Back again for my favourite YTF before it closes for a 3 month renovation starting March! Absolutely love how good this is without the need of any fancy sauces or ingredients. You get the most generously filled YTF pieces alongside a bowl of noodles topped with ikan bilis. If you have more stomach space, try their equally good fried eggplant and fishcake!

Still my ultimate favourite out of all the handmade noodles around! Used to love their mee hoon kway most, but my favourites in recent years are their ban mian and you mian for the chewier and springier texture.

It’s a must to get their fiery chilli sauce because it just complements the heavier black sauce so well!! Texturally, you get crunchy ikan bilis, meatballs, minced meat, greens and very thoroughly braised slices of mushrooms. The unassuming bowl of soup is comforting and flavourful, but I prefer the dry version cause you get the best of both worlds (and a more concentrated version of the soup).

& ... the fav Tsujiri Honten is back! Intense, bittersweet, and just everything more matcha and houjicha soft serves should be like. Just wish that they can do something about managing a more organized queue!

Hands down one of my fav places for mee kia and kway teow. Especially love the silky soft kway teow, it’s slightly wider than the usual kind you get but cooked so well! No doubt it’s a tad more expensive and oily, but it’s so worth it for the flavours. Instead of the vinegary sort, the noodles here are tossed in a mix of pork lard and chili with lots of minced pork, slices of fishcakes and bouncy fishballs. Soup’s tasty too!

If you want more noodles, request for ‘add noodles’ which is a 50 cents top up, rather than going for the $5/$6 portions which gives you more ingredients like prawns than noodles. Also, they’ve different outlets across Singapore and this is the only branch I’ve tried, so I’m not sure if the flavours are all the same.

The ice lemon tea ($1.50) from the drink stall here is good too, not the kind mixed in with lime juice - my fam’s fav combi for our Sunday breakfasts!

Don’t think I’ve posted about this before but these handmade dumplings are the best I’ve had anywhere in SG, and yes, they are definitely comparable to those you find in restaurants! Handmade daily, these wantons have the most silky smooth skins with a well seasoned pork filling. The best part of it all though, is that SPICY SAUCE, a spot on balance of vinegar and heat, making it all soooooo appetising! Have been having these for the longest time ever and the quality has never been compromised. #BurppleMajulahMakan

One of the most popular stalls in the food centre, it's not an uncommon sight to see people ordering and taking away packets and packets of bee hoon with a whole big bag of chosen ingredients. This stall is probably one of my dad's favorite (and then mine), often found on our dining table even more so as we live close by! Some of my fav picks are the orange squid, prawn cracker and fish patty. The nicely seasoned offerings are all refried upon order and that's done well without being greasy!

Just add on plates of their fried bee hoon ($1/small, $1.50/large) and you are all set to go. This may not be the cheapest nor the healthier option around but has always been consistently good and satisfying. #BurppleBTFC

Back at Wen Wen for the second time after what seems like forever but the wait was so worth it. ✨We paid $70 for 5 pax. Unlimited noodles and refills of that amazing broth in a mix of crabs, clams, prawns, intestines and pork ribs along with shabu pork and veg we brought along. S H I O K. Their contact number for reservations has changed to 90265983 and I think they now provide additional vegetables for top up if you forget to bring your own!

I've been eating this for as long as I can remember and it all started with my dad's recommendation to us years ago. Although the livers are sometimes slightly overcooked, the winner for me is the pork slices that are always super tender. Don't come expecting the cloudy kind of porky soup though because it's exactly for its simple and hearty clear soup with crunchy kiam chye (salted vegetables) that keeps me and my family coming back. Free soup refills and top up 50 cents for a bowl of rice or a dollar for mee sua! Call me bias but I love this and I probably always will!

Ah Hua Kelong's always my best bet when it comes to affordable fresh seafood. Caught them again at the OFC Social Market and for $9, we got 4 of these huge XL clams that were then grilled on the spot by OFC. They were so damn fresh, plump and juicy, there's really no need to dip them in sauces of any kind. Can't wait to head back to Pasarbella for their seafood boxes!

After the mad cravings for weeks or maybe months, I FINALLY MET MY LOVE AGAIN, but this time it was even better because of the double shot durian! 😍 It's less icy than I remembered it to be but still oh so satisfying~ Every spoon will send you right up to durian heaven with its richness and creaminess. I love that there's no hint of artificial durian flavours and slurping the whole bowl down wasn't jerlat because of the very well balanced sweetness. Durian purée on top is the perfect icing on the cake. After trying this, not many other similar durian desserts would be able to impress you the same way!
