The “Chicken Leg Nasi Lemak Set” ($16.30) is hugely popular for several reasons. One of which has to be that big piece of aromatic and crispy-of-skin “Ayam Goreng Berempah”. But in fact, even if you order their “Kosong” version of the dish ($5.60) which excludes the aforementioned fried chicken, I think it is still really satisfying because the basics are done right. The rice is always fragrant and fluffy, the egg - perfectly fried, the nuts and ikan bilis are unfailingly fresh and crunchy, and the Japanese cucumber manages to be cool and crisp each and every time. Then there’s the all important sweetish-spicy sambal that’s a match-made-in-heaven with the rice and everything else too.
Another wonderful thing about Nasi Lemak in general? It’s a dish that travels fine and tastes as good as if you were to eat it at the stall or restaurant.
Singapore's iconic dish is already quite rare at buffets and here you even get mantou. Heavenly (and I didn't even eat the crab).
They are not your regular mee pok but more akin to Hakka noodles. Lovely texture and flavour and at SGD3++ a bowl, they are a steal! Definitely will be back for more.
Finally got to try FOOK KIN located at Killiney Road. This establishment is the brain child of the Muttons duo and Roast Paradise - people who love food and make good food - so you can only expect good things.
I had the Roast Paradise rice bowl which consists of all three house roasted specialities such as the duck, char siew and siew yoke; an egg; pickled vegetables; fragrant rice and soup. As the pork was good, the real standout was the duck as it was juicy and bursting with flavour. Another hit was the rice! It’s extremely potent in flavour that one could just eat it on its own.
Recommended to try their white beehoon & apple juice w sour plum!!!

Mee hoon kuay. I thought the noodles were a little too thick but I loved their broth and homemade garlic chilli! It's a must! One unique ingredient they have in their dish is mani Cai! Hardly found in hawkers anymore! 🌱

They sell 2 version, dry and soup.
I love the dry version, for the noodle texture and served with dark soy sauce and their homemade chili sauce. It’s really shiok.
and if you love the chili like me, you can buy back their chili just for $5.

A convenient place to get your salted-egg fix! Located in Far East Plaza, situated among many good food spots is Susan Chan Food restaurant.
Their signature salted egg pork ribs ($6 with rice) are so delicious that we licked the plate clean of that tasty goodness. The chilis add a good zing to what we're accustomed to.
Had a lovely meal here today. My main highlight is the braised duck $18 small portion. Love the tender meat and sauce! It goes well with rice or porridge. I will be back to order this again. Their service and ambience is tip top too. 👍
There's a food fair going on and we tried this interesting Teochew version of Fried Kway Teow. The wok-hei is strong with this one.

Woah woah woah! When sister first ordered this at Northpoint during CNY, I was less than impressed. She was given cabbage, a few pieces of minced meat and noodles. Everything looked colourless and meh.
But this! I never thought I would react this way about u-mian (I changed it) in a food court. This is so SO good! I could tell that the u-mian was made in the traditional way. They gave so much ingredients, especially the vegetables. Soup was also better than I expected.
I foresee myself eating this often... $6 and 4.1/5
