Got the biggest portion to share with a friend (about $40?). Both of us felt that the flavour of the soup was a little bland, but the seafood was fresh and noodles were cooked perfectly.

Safe to speak for myself and my friend, we both agreed that it wasn't a dish that we'll go back for, but it was a good to have a try!

After driving past this store almost every single day, I finally decided to stop by to check out what the hype's all about!

Upon reaching the coffee shop, you'd see this oddly shaped curved bowls that you'd usually see at restaurants on almost every table. Peering over, you'd see clams, prawns, lobsters or crayfish swimming in this super gao (thick) orange stock.

Ordered myself a bowl & now I know what the hype is all about.

The thick soup broth screamed umami as every spoonful sent you straight to prawn land. Not only that, with the Crayfish with Clams that I ordered, you have a generous portion of plump clams (I don't eat clams, but my brother said they were really fresh) & 2 whole crayfishes sliced in halves. The crayfish too was plump, juicy & pretty fresh as they peeled off easily from its shell.

Albeit on an expensive side, this is one hawker dish that you can splurge on once in awhile. Also, if you're not too much of a big eater, I suggest you share this with someone, cause even I couldn't finished it without the help of my brother.

Probably known for using lobsters and crayfish in their coffee shop menu, Lobster Time sounded like an "atas" option for most commoners. But since the broth is the same across all their items here, I went for the Big Prawn Noodles with Clams (S$8.50), just in case if I get disappointed with the combo.

Sad to say, I was still disappointed.

Putting the expensive noodles to the test, I find that I can get similar satisfaction if I were to get Prawn Noodles from PappaRich. The broth tasted relatively the same, and the use of clams as an ingredient did not seem to add a bonus to ordering this dish.

OK to splurge once in a while, but the motivation to return for more, is not anywhere near to high.

Lobster noodles with clams. The lobster is firm and fresh. Their broth is made of pig bones, chicken and prawn heads and is very flavorful.

Go luxe with your next coffeeshop meal at this Bishan stall specialising in Penang-style prawn noodles. What crowds come for are not the regular Prawn Noodles (from $4.50); they're all ready to splash out on lobsters instead! Try the Lobster Noodles with Clams ($26.50), and get the soupy version so you can slurp on the mild, delicate broth. The lobsters are fresh, and the homemade chilli sauce that's served on the side is great for dipping. If budget is not a concern, consider going all out with the Combo Noodles ($38.50), which includes lobsters, prawns, crayfish and clams. It's just the thing for shellfish enthusiasts.

And we wouldn't hold back when it comes to food. So we ordered their all-in combo with lobster, crayfish, prawns and lala. Their Penang prawn mee soup base was supposed to distinct them from others'. Taste was decent but it lacked depth to the richness of seafood. Lobster was overcooked compared to the crayfish, which seemed to be a common problem with many hawkers we'd tried. What disappointed were the miserably small prawns which we'd expected more for such a dish.
Again, we would compare this against Sumo's, which was better in taste. With little satisfaction, this would perhaps mark our last in exploring hawker lobster seafood soup.
