Finally met up with @crystal_wee & @jolenekcw after like so so long.
I remember the first time I came here was with @melinda_cereal when we are both poly year 2 I think? That's when I started to cafe hop more often. Even though this place is inaccessible but its my favourite hide out spot during internship.
This little spot is the place where caught my eye when I was here the first time and I will certainly miss this place

Then you definitely have to get your hands on this!
Fuji Melt Sandwich ($12) was a special item of that day which I've chanced upon on Deepavali (they should seriously consider it to be on their menu 😍) Toasted Brioche, ham then topped with both scrambled and poached egg (!!!) and a torched cheese right smack on top! WHUTTT WHUT WHUT WHUTTTT!! There! Your perfect brunch combination!
And.... finally paired it off with their speciality coffee to really start your weekends well!
Back to this hidden gem at kg bugis. Have not been here for years. Love the industrial feel and the uluness of this place. Ordered a cold brew and flat white. Coffee was rich, smooth and not acidic which suits my taste bud.
Situated near Kallang River, Loysel's Toy gives a comfortable ambiance for a good catchup with friends
Here's today menu:
X1 Eggs Ben Trio
X1 Big L's Breakfast
X1 Oriental Pork Sandwich
X1 Mocha
X1 Cappuccino
X1 Good Ol' fashioned Iced Tea
Do give them a try!
Heard many rave reviews about their Lemon Tart, but I ordered this instead because it's just so much prettier! This tart is not filled with curd but with what I think is a thin layer of sponge, then topped with peach slices and almond flakes and pistachio bits. Even so, the tart was surprisingly not dry at all. Buttery and mildly sweet, its taste did not disappoint too.
I made a request for the pancakes (approx $12.9) to be accompanied with an ice cream upon making payment and was told that it could be done, but to my dismay, I later learnt that they were out of ice cream.. Not sure how true that was really but at least the staff were polite. On the whole, this cafe shouldn't have made it to this list if not for the fact that I loved its location - stuffed away at a quiet corner of Kampong Bugis!
Has there been a change in Loysel's toy's cake supplier? This was really dry and rough textured, unlike the black sesame teacake that I've had here before.
A quiet abode next to Kallang Riverside Park, Loysel's Toy boasts specialty brewed coffee. Decided to try their food menu. The Big L ($16++) was pretty disappointing as the sautéed mushrooms tasted rubbery and weren't fresh. The bread also tasted slightly old. The scrambled were not too bad and I liked the pork cheese sausage which burst with juice upon my first bite.
Not really worth the trip in for food but if you want a nice place to chill and be alone, it might just be the place for you. I was informed that they were gonna close by the end of 2015 so just a heads up to those who wish to visit this place!
Heartiness (portion): 2/5
Tastiness (product): 2/5
Worthiness (price): 2/5
Ambience: Quiet and peaceful for a late morning or afternoon read.
Loved the quirky bottle design and the refreshing taste of the Fizzy Lemonade Soda ($5.00). With a grainy texture, The Orange & Olive Cake ($5.00) was just amazing. Awesome place to have some chill-out time!
Any recommendations for Lemon Tart, Burpplers? Had my virgin experience on Lemon Tart months ago @ Loysel's Toy. Thus, it was good! But I do believe there are better ones in town, and somewhere that is more accessible!
Loysel's Toy is one of the most hidden cafe in Singapore, with the power of social media has led me to explore this cafe sometime back on the weekend. It was quite a distance (about 15mins walk, if you know the way) from the train station and also you have to navigate yourself there through GPS (It's not anywhere visible).
As many people did mentioned personally that their coffee is one of their speciality and they uses their house blend as Papa Palheta who is one of the biggest coffee supplier in Singapore who does roasting of their own coffee beans.
What do you expect? Loysel's Toy just gives you a very laidback feel when you visit during the weekdays. Hence; if you consider visiting them on the weekends. Do note that they're one of the brunch spots people usually visit!
The coffee itself is quite rich and it gives out a medium balanced nutty flavour infused with chocolate.
The lemon tart is a bomb!! Very refreshing.. very lemony. If u want something not-so-sweet for the day, try this out!
Loysel's toy is well known for its coffee and I do agree it's good! Food on the other hand seems pretty average. Service levels are sporadic.
FINALLY. It's been 2 years since i've wanted to come here and today, i did. Decent latte, pretty good hand brew.
Loysel's Toy by Papa Palheta is one of those places you never would expect to find in a warehouse at Kampong Bugis, but it's a lovely place for breakfast, brunch or tea. With excellent coffee and a simple but wholesome menu, Loysel's is just an awesome place to chill.
Enjoy the hipster vibe in a quaint corner just off Kallang river. Great place for an afternoon chillout (minus the growing crowd)
