I’m pretty sure everyone of us would drop by to visit this famous street in KL whenever you are here.

Then since you are here, some of the street foods like this one shouldn’t be missed out.

I was lucky I got the last batch of mush chee before it all gone by early afternoon.

It is simple enjoyable with the muah chee texture that goes well with the peanuts.

You’ll hear this stall before you see it: The speakers connected to Madam Tang’s muah chee cart blares a recording of her saying "Top quality, silky smooth muah chee" in Cantonese. Order the muah chee by the box (RM5), and watch as she cuts and shapes the soft and chewy glutinous rice balls to order. For the finishing touch, she coats them generously in finely chopped peanuts. Madam Tang also makes other funky muah chee flavours like Ribena, Pandan and Lychee. Get them in a variety pack for only RM5!

A legend in Petaling Street and something you must have when in the area. The soft and chewy glutinous rice bowls are made upon order, and are generously coated in finely chopped peanuts. Other flavours like ribena and lychee are available, but nothing beats the original.

Apparently the best mua chee by a very famous elderly lady, Mdm Tang. There was a line for this & I read reports that sometimes she sells out by 3PM!

If you don't know where to locate Mdm Tang, just follow the sound. She plays a recording of herself shouting/hawking her mua chee on repeat (she has installed speakers in her push cart). Today, there was another stall nearby with a more modern feel - run by 2 youngsters, but no one around me seemed to want that.

There is value is old school cool, I guess. But most importantly, her mua chee is really delicious. Silky smooth yet soft & chewy, sprinkled with generous chopped peanuts. I ordered a variety pack of all flavours (5RM): original, mango, pandan, Ribena, black sesame 😁 Yes, I suppose the artificial flavours aren't good for you, but it's not every day that I would eat this, so... YOLO 😉

Madam Tang's voice has echoed through Petaling Street for years, telling of her legendary handmade muah chee (glutinous rice balls). Located by Jalan Hang Lekir's cross-junction, her run-down pushcart is easily picked up by the repetitive chant coming from a loudspeaker: "Yat lau yat lau, wat luet luet", which translates in Cantonese to mean "Top quality, silky smooth muah chee". Her Muah Chee (RM5 a box) is prepared daily, and upon order, gets a generous coating of finely chopped peanuts. Texture wise, these larger-than-usual chunks are perfection — soft but chewy at the same time. Though the original remains a treasured choice, Madam Tang also makes her muah chee in locally-inspired flavours like Ribena, pandan and the fruity lychee. This will make a stellar stop after a satisfying meal in the area.
