More Reviews of good food at Mrs Pho House (Rangoon Road)

A nice and quiet place for a quick lunch, with easy parking along Rangoon Road. Quite tasty.

Mrs Pho House's stir fry crab meat noodles is one of the pricier dishes on their menu.

Wok fry glass noodle is topped with fresh crab meat, assorted mushrooms and vegetables in oyster sauce.

We were rather disappointed with the dish. The pricey nature of this dish is mainly attributable to the fresh shredded crab meat. The amount of crab meat however seemed rather paltry. The glass noodles were also seasoned a little unevenly.

My honest recommendation is to give this a miss and stick to their regular fare.

Comforting portion of sliced beef pho in beef broth.
Really a classic indeed.

Takeaway from Mrs Pho House (13 SGD). Really liked this refreshing pho. Didn’t have a strong chicken flavor which is the way I liked it. The chilli and tamarind sauces are pretty good too.

Simply refreshing combination of starfruit onions coriander and a generous serving of beef

I’ve been patronising Mrs Pho at their multiple outlets for at least 4 years now so this is my overall review for them - the original Beach Road outlet is actually the best, followed by the Rangoon Road one then the Vivo one.

When I first stepped into their Beach Road outlet I felt like I was being literally transported back to Vietnam lol, the shitty and cramped tables, and even the taste of the Pho was omg so nostalgic! Their fried spring rolls tasted EXACTLY like all the ones I ate in Vietnam too... My favourite thing to add is their home made chilli sauce that they usually put on the side. It is so oily and spicy and goes sooo well with the broth and noodles.

With that being said, their other outlets are definitely not as authentic as the Beach Road one, but they are well less crowded. My family and I always patronise the one at Rangoon Road because it’s very spacious and only mildly crowded at most, and they have a ton of other dishes that the other outlets don’t have like actually caifan dishes you can order, and even crab!

The recent showers🌧️ got us craving for something soupy and warm☀️ so today we're back at Mrs Pho🍜, an authentic and our favourite Vietnamese joint! As expected, they lived up to our expectations with delicious pho at wallet friendly prices. But what surprised us were the sides we ordered. The 'Papaya salad with prawn🍤 and pork🐷' was crunchy, sweet, sour and super appetising! And 'Banh Xeo with pork🐷' definitely surprised us as well, in terms of both the taste and portion! The fried pork and vegetables had lots of wok hei👍 in it, and wrapped in a thin savoury crepe. Sinful but definitely worth it😍

Lastly, one thing to note was that their online menus seem to differ for their branches so be sure to check their website before heading down😋

Despite them being named after the famed Vietnamese noodle soup, we couldn't resist ordering the dry rice vermicelli with lemongrass grilled beef. It ended up being a huge hit. Fresh shredded lettuce, fragrant beef slices, tangy vinaigrette sauce and springy rice vermicelli made for a refreshing combo.

I was also super impressed with their delivery speed. They delivered on time (1 hour after I placed my order), despite the fact that I ordered during dinnertime and their store is not near my house. Impressive!

Price: $12

I usually squirm at fishy cockles in my char kway teow, so I wasn’t too sure if I made the right choice when I ordered Mrs Pho’s Cockles ($12.90) from Mrs Pho House. BEST CHOICE EVER! The cockles are stir-fried with lots of garlic and lard and served in a sizzling claypot. I love how fragrant it is, and the fact that the cockles are cooked through and not fishy at all. Highly addictive!

Seafood broth, fresh crab meat, prawns, meatballs and thick short noodles aka 老鼠粉 or mee tai mak which I did not expect when I first tried to pick up the noodles thinking it would be the traditional pho noodles. They were actually a nice surprise and had a bouncy texture to them which I rly liked. The broth was really clean tasting and squeeze in some lime and stir in some fish sauce to give it an extra oomph. The crab meat and prawns were fresh but could’ve been more generous with the crab given that it’s supposed to be the main ingredient.

Pretty b’cos its interior was comfortable and had great characteristics of Vietnam. Its menu featured a pretty wide range, from appetiser to mains and desserts.
With fried pork rolls, starfruit salad, grilled pork jowls and Pho, our meal was a complete one with varied tastiness. And we also loved those sauces to go along with the dishes.

I'm so glad that Mrs Pho House nailed their version of the Banh Xeo, a savoury crepe sandwiching a multitude of ingredients. The perfectly thin crepe had just the right amount of egginess and crispiness, and the beef was nicely cooked without being overly tough or chewy. I'd return just for this!

The crab noodle sounds like a good candidate for another top-up. It turns out that the soup broth is slightly too sweet for our taste. We also wish for more crab meat despite a very generous amount of silver needle noodle 🍜 (we are very much in love with this type of noodle! )👌

Try new Top-up options (+$1) on their lunch Sets $16.90. Special beef combo comes with extra soup & fresh egg. Beef briskets & beef balls are tender and tasty. Recommended to try!

We end our lunch set meal in a lovely note with Agar Agar. The jelly pretty looking dessert that tastes lightly sweet & instagram worthy. 🍮
Though the location is not that ideal, the retro & casual ambience make up for it.

"Lunch set mix & match" $16.90 is always a great chance to try a variety of dishes (side dish, main & dessert) and a right decision in this case. 😉
.
Always thrilled to try the new dish other than Pho & Banh Mi. It appears the Bun Bo Hue vermicelli noodle is a thicker & cylindrical version of those used in Pho dish. We are pretty used to the spicy soup noodle but somehow the dish manages to make us teary. 😭 We choose fresh spring roll as aside dish & dessert of the day.
.
Another set we go for a side dish: papaya salad with main: Chicken Pho noodle. The pho broth tastes real good if we are not too heavy hand with the chopped chilis & sauce.🌶
